Day 8 (Koh Kood เกาะกูด, also spelled Ko Kood or Koh Kut): Eastern Thailand Food and Travel Tour. Watch all 8 videos here:
This is Day 8 of my Eastern Thailand food and travel series. Our final destination was the island of Koh Kood (เกาะกูด), and one of the best islands and most beautiful in Thailand. From the water to the beaches, to the jungle, you’ll be in awe.
How to get to Koh Kood? We took the Boonsiri Ferry - 1,000 THB ($31.75) per person round-trip. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there.
On this one day guide of food and travel in Koh Kood (เกาะกูด), we hired a pickup truck to drive us around (Private vehicle - 2,000 THB ($63.50) whole day) to some of the famous sites, beaches, and restaurants. It was an amazing day.
The Sunshine Resort Koh Kood at Ao Phrao Beach (อ่าวพร้าว) - This is where we stayed for the first few nights in Koh Kood. A very nice relaxing quiet place.
Khao Saleun (ข้าวสะลื่น) - It doesn’t really have a name, but this small rice and curry restaurant serves great food in Koh Kood.
Mushroom curry (แกงเห็ดเสม็ด)
Chicken curry (แกงไก่บ้าน)
Total price - 100 THB ($3.17)
Old Tree 1
Old Tree 2
Klong Chao Waterfall (น้ำตกคลองเจ้า) - There are a number of tropical waterfalls on Koh Kood, and we went to Klong Chao, because of its big pool of water. It did start raining, but it was still fun.
Khao Reua Rub (เขาเรือรบ) - This is a shrine and there’s not much to see, but it’s interesting.
Bang Bao Beach (บางเบ้า) - This is one of the best beaches in Koh Kood and in Thailand. Crystal clear bathtub water.
Ao Yai Fisherman Village (บ้านอ่าวใหญ่) - One of the things I wanted to do most in Koh Kood was visit a fishing village to eat seafood. The village is great, and well worth checking out and exploring when you’re in Koh Kood.
Chonthicha Restaurant (ร้านชลธิชา) - There are a few different seafood restaurants, but we chose this one.
Squid with garlic (ปลามึกทอดกระเทียม)
Murex sashimi (หอยเงาะ)
Hoy pawk pad prik pao (หอยพอกผัดพริกเผา)
Shrimp pineapple curry (แกงคั่วสับปะรด)
Fried slipper lobster (กั้งกระดานทอดกระเทียม)
Total price - 1,360 THB ($43.18)
The most unique dish of the meal was Murex sashimi (หอยเงาะ), in Thai it’s called a Rambutan Shell, after the fruit.
Koh Kood (เกาะกูด) is the type of island where you can go to your resort and just not move, and that is great. But there are also some amazing things to do when you’re there as well, and I hope this video gives you some great ideas. Thank you for watching!

there is this thing in Mark's videos that you wont really get bored because it is like a documentary. it does not focus my eyes to food only, but also to the scenery, and on top of it, is the knowledge and information about the culture we are getting from the place he is visiting. kudos to you, Mark, for reaching 2 million! I hope you and your family would stay healthy, so you could continue your journey around the world, and for you to share it with other people. God bless you! More blessings to come..

HI MARK, YING AND MICAH. I apologise for how long this comment is but I hope that you can read it and that it makes sense. I've really enjoyed this video series. I have never been to Thailand so seeing the map plotting your journey was very helpful. Congratulations on hitting 2 million subscribers, it's an incredible achievement. You derserve every success in the world because you have a real skill in bringing people of different cultures so much closer through food. It's the one thing that we all have in common and learning about local foods and seeing what they look and taste like is a great privilege. Not only that, your ability to professionally edit the videos make them a lot better than most food shows on tv. The drone footage gives us a birds eye view which even if we had visited the country it's unlikely that we would of seen it from that perspective. You and Ying have worked incredibly hard to build this channel from scratch. I've watched a video of you both being interviewed and it went through the very start of how hard it was to build awareness of the you both and the channel. You took a gamble and combined with a lot of hard work it really paid off for you and all of us. As you may remember I use your videos to distract myself from the horrific 24/7 pain I have. I saw my palliative care doctors and team a few days okay and we had a discussion on how I use mindfulness to help control the pain. They are wanting me to talk about it to other patients in the hope that it can help them too. I spoke of your channel and how incredible your family is and they are going to look at your channel and have suggested I teach other patients about it. I feel so honored to be able to talk about you and help to spread the word about your channel. I don't want to get too mushy and it's hard to find the words to explain the positive effect you have on my life but it has made my days so much more enjoyable and I've watched most of your videos at least three times. A lot of people towards the end of life have trouble eating so being able to watch you enjoy food is the next best thing. Even though I'm terminally ill and could pass away from a fatal bleed at any time I've managed to make it to 40 which means I've lasted 6 years longer than the 2 years my doctors gave me when I was 32. I like to find the positive in every situation, so in this case if I wasn't sick I mostly likely would have spent very little time on KZbin so I wouldn't have found your channel. Having been sick on and off since I was 12 has made me a stronger more determined person. It has made me appreciate all the little things and has given me the knowledge to support other people who are sick and even when I get the chance to teach medical students. I was always very shy and I didn't really feel comfortable talking to people until I was diagnosed with aspergers as so many things in my life started to make sense to me. I now have the confidence to talk more and to share my ideas. I especially feel more at ease interacting with strangers. Like you I am Christian and I feel at peace with my situation but I find it hard sometimes being so sick and having to recover after each bleed, clot or any of the other complications only to have another bleed etc. It's very tiring and wears me down at times. I feel that you are a very humble person and I suspect the extent of the positive impact you and your family have on people is something that you would find hard to acknowledge so even though I may sound like a broken record (as I often comment about the positive impact you have on me) I think it's important to tell someone that all their hard work is making a difference in this case a massive difference, so thank you Mark, Ying and Micah for sharing your adventures with us. I pray for peace and happiness for all of you and that you have many more adventures in life. I wasn't able to have my own children which crushed me since I've always wanted to be a Mum from a young age. I was able to foster children and I had a career in teaching before I got too sick to work. This is why I appreciate seeing Micah as there is nothing more important than children. You are so open with your family and to many of us it's like you are all a part of our extended family. God has given you a lot of talent and it's awesome to see someone listen and follow the path that was chosen for them. Sending love to you and your family all the way from New Zealand. God Bless and look after each other. Xx

Congrats on your 2M subs. You have come such a long way and refined your eating style since I did that 'critique' of you at the banquet of restaurants and still 'gravity feeding' yourself. I am so proud of you for making major changes and the sponsorships you have attained since that banquet. You are a major travel/food vlog success and have added Micah to Ying (your bling) LOL! Wishing you much more success in the future.
