The reason I like the lifedeck idea is that you have to adapt to different situations through deck memorization. If you know every card in your deck, then when a good card is put into the discard pile, you have to think about other strategies with the rest of your remaining deck. It prevents relying solely on a single card/ combo, meaning your deck has to be extremely versatile. Although, I will admit, sometimes it can be completely unfair.

I kinda hope we get an update to the deck size. 40 cards doesn’t seem enough for a game that has a life decking system. 60 cards would allow for much more cards with higher cost to see usability. Diamond Maxotaur, for example, is pretty much impossible to play since most games are done by the 6th or 7th turn. You gotta really be pushing that turbo effect or get really lucky with a Dan Kouzo card to be able to play that.

I feel like 60 might be too much. It will make it harder for people to draw the cards they need. Maybe make it 40-50 cards. Letting the players choose their deck size can open opportunities for more play styles.

Meraknight and team attack usually you get like between 15-25 damage sometimes rarely 30 damage. Me and my friend we usually finish 5 or 7. Anyways I hope we get that to change because usually I don’t used up all of my cards beside using it for energized.

I would love to see an episode in which he compares old yugioh card text with the problem solving card text. In my opinion that was the best addition to the game the devs have done. We went from needing rulings for every card to no longer needing them since the text explained everything away.

this is just constructive input here but when it comes to the life system its actually if you mill all the card of the deck and deal an additional attack to the player you win for example say i have 6 cards in my deck and i get hit for 6 damage i am still in the game until the opponent deal an additional damage to me but if i have 6 cards in my deck and gets hit with 7 damage then I lost the game because the person milled all my cards and inflicted an additional hit no worries people make this mistake often just here to help

That only applies if you drew your last card, if they milled you down to 0 you lose the match. You can't lose a match by card draw. And being based on a life deck system it doesn't really make too much sense to deal that additional damage when the player has no more cards to discard after your attack either.

If you are milled down to 0 (aka they have done a total of 40 damage to your deck with tou drawing and their damage) the game continues like normal except you cant draw a card. but can still use what you have in your hand. The rules specifically state they MUST mill your whole deck and deal an additional damage. So if you have 8 cards in your deck and they do 8 damage the game continues. Except your draw phase is skipped. Then if they deal 1 damage at all you lose.

The game seems to base itself around luck much more than it used to. I personally like that they kept with this aspect, even if it can get annoying sometimes. Luck always brings more excitement to the game, in my opinion. By the way, don't shrug off Stand Together if you plan on building a deck around Domination.

Good vid, but got a feeeew nitpicks None of the discussion about Pact of Darkness has been about its discard synergy. Its all been about being free. The only place where that discard synergy is utilized at all is to enable Fury. The arguments against lifedecking given here really don't hold up. What makes milling so frustrating to play about it is that it comes from effects you have very limited interaction with. When its coming from attacks that all of the card design is built around interacting with, that issue is completely gone. Aquos is in no way "maybe not the best at fighting", their b power altering cards are on par with what Haos has access to also really wish you'd mentioned that the played with priority has to select the bakugan they're rolling first, its by far the most interesting aspect of the priority rules

Pretty sure I mentioned that last one. And as for milling, watching your win-condition cards hit the discard pile from your deck is frustrating no matter what game it happens in. That is what makes Mill decks so frustrating to play against, if you ask me. The flavor text for Millstone put it so perfectly that I had to mention it.

THIS is what I was looking for. Props to you. Also, have to mention about milling. A misconception is that you have to do the opponents whole deck and they lose is WRONG *stamp* you have to mill their whole deck PLUS 1. And with aquos, its also really good cause of the flow mechanic. And a personal thing from me Kohdok but there was little to no mention of special abilities of types, combos they can be used in etc.

Kohdok one of the best parts about Bakugan to me is that there is no real win condition. No singular card in your deck is going to win you a game because everything can change on a single missed roll. Treating your deck like it has win condition cards will make you lose so you have to have develop your deck with several options to close out your game. It’s actually fairly impressive like that

I agree that at times the game is very unclear and some explanations printed on the cards would VASTLY improve it. Me and my friends had no go out of our way and search Google to find out what abilities such as Shadow-Strike are. Being forced to pull out your phone and Gooogle search something because it's unclear is a big NO NO in a TCG. I also wish the life deck was larger than 40 cards. 40 life points isn't enough. Overall this game is REALLY fun to play.

Although Flips are still a 50/50 on hitting as it becomes a mill game, each attribute has a “___ Outsiders” Flip that blocks Non-Color of that specific faction. It cost 3 but I think they’re cool handy especially if your decks multicolored

I was tempted to do a whole series on them Thou Shalt Not: 1) Rotate before the age of 3 2) Use Lifedecking 3) Have unmixable attributes 4) Base your game on a movie 5) use a non-standard card size. 6) require more than the deck and some dice 7) Neglect reminder text These aren't necessarily game killers, but they act as a hindrance and a hurdle your game has to overcome.

@@Yinyanyeow Kinda? 1) This is actually very complex. Most new games suffer from what I call "The Two Year Curse" where even games doing fine suddenly die off. The fact that many games rotate around this time to imitate Magic and Pokemon strikes me as no coincidence. Magic and Pokemon are constantly iterating on their mechanics and have a nice soft cushion of staple card reprints to land on when they rotate, which newer games lack. 2) It's frustrating to play, and the Shield system invented for Duel masters and copied in other games have left it obsolete. 3) It can get extreme to the point where different factions get their own card backs. Mixing encourages creativity and not mixing means it is hard to support what people play. 4) Ties in more with the TCG craze of the early 2000's. A movie is a bad choice because there isn't any new content to make cards from unlike a series of novels or ongoing tv show or video game series. 5) Correct. People like to bust out (or buy) some new sleeves when trying out a game. They can also use their old binders to store their rare cards. 6) Wasn't thinking of Keyforge. Was thinking of Redakai. You can use dice in place of Ore for Keyforge, though you'll need different colors for damage and ore. Still, $40 is crazy-much for an entry price. 7) It's an accessibility thing. The easier your cards are to understand out of the box, the more likely people are to play it. The less times I have to consult the rules, the more fun I have.

Yugioh suffer this problem with their their famous long ass effect, "this card canot be normal summoned or set". This card can only be summoned ( and or special summoned. It varies) by bla bla bla... " and so on. Its bad if your opponenet( or anyone) doesnt know what effect is. They read the card (with twiching eye. Because the size of the words are reduced to fit the box) long enough to finish read it. It consumed time.

When redakai was mentioned I was like...oh yeah that was a thing. XD I mostly watched the anime (not Battle Planet) and play the first game on the ds, but can't we kinda comebine parts of both? Get rid of core and back to gates. Instead of 3x gates & 3 abilitiies why not for example 20 each so just like a deck for BP. (These are just things I just thought of and propably some thing will have changed by now). I have liked the use of Traps & Battlegear, but I might start playing this if it is a combo of both OG Bakugan and BP. :p Why did they get rid of Subterra and changed G's into bp?

Good review! The deck milling is tolerable but the team attacks which happen once all 3 of your bakugan open are a bit broken. I have seen plays where you can take 9+ damage in the first turn which is very hard to stop unless you are playing flip cards like pact of darkness (discard to stop the attack). Combine the damage that you can't stop early on with the team attack then it can be game over by turn 4-5. A lot of players are also struggling to maximize the high casting cost cards because they are too costly to play and you lose certain combo cards during the first 3 turns. As you pointed out, card searching is almost impossible to do so certain cards including most of the bakugan elite cards will never see the light of day. It's funny that they have a ton of cards that have good synergy but are not playable because it will take forever to play or the combos are just impossible to use. Almost 2/3 of cards are currently trash cards because of the pace of a game. On average, we see games only last 6 to 7 turns so cards costing 4 energy and above are pretty much mid to late game cards. Playing high costing cards and tapping out or using up all your energy leave you susceptible to unstoppable attacks so players also have that challenge. Ex. You just played your Dan hero card after the energize phase at turn 4. Your opponent does a team attack and hits you for 15+ damage. If your opponent has done 10+ damage for the first 2 bakugan that he opened then it's most likely game over at turn 5 or 6.

4$ a pack?? Where I live the packs were only 3$ and we never got any other sets after Battle Brawlers, there was no Resurgence, Age Of Aurelius, or Armored Aliance. I asked a worker around the time Resurgence came out if they were going to have more cards and they said that they have a new shipment coming in, but I never seen any other packs. And no other store out of 4 towns where I live eve. 4 Walmarts, I can now only get cards with the toys themselves, the starter decks, and any other toy product or just online which kinda sucks.

It’s a shame that the Bakugan TCG was pretty much abandoned by Spin Master. Despite all its flaws, I truly believe it could’ve been an amazing expansion to the toy battling game. I get that Bakugan has always been a toy battling game in spirit, but attaching a deck of cards just makes sense. In the original show, starting with New Vestroia, the way the game was actually played in real life was abandoned in favor of having one gate card cbined with playing a deck of ability cards. Granted, this sacrificed the strategy aspect of the game in the show in favor of just constantly throwing out ability cards, which, in my opinion, is less interesting. However, it shows that having a deck of cards with your Bakugan can greatly expand on the already existing game.

The only major game mechanic I have a real problem with is, funny enough, the major one; physically rolling the bakugan. Whenever you'll wanna play this game with a friend or maybe even at a local lgs(?!), you'll need a decent amount of table space, maybe not enough offered by sitting normally at that table. Also, the amount of dexterity required to play. It's not just a card game, it's also a dexterity based. If wanted to play and be pretty decent, I better hope I'm good at rolling marbl - I mean bakugan.

at least you can use other attribute cards on aurelis. as long as you have a bakugan of the attribute. say i have a deck full of ventus and darkus cards, and a ventus bakugan and a darkus bakugan, and a aurelis bakugan, the ventus could use darkus cards, the darkus could use ventus cards, and aurelis can use either ventus or darkus cards

I feel like the original system of just landing on a card, flipping it over, and following its instructions whilst playing interfering cards was the better system. Just so much more simple. As for all the little gimmicks, I feel like those are the fault of Spin Master not laying out their rules properly. Like, they should've set it up so that you play a card to use whatever gimmicks you have available. Ex: You play a card labeled "Jetkor" that tells you to grab your Jetkor battle gear and attach it to your Bakugan, adding some G power. The more powerful the gimmick, then the card balances it out by adding downsides like forcing you to discard a number of ability cards in your deck. (Looking at you, Dragonoid Maxus, Colossus, and Destroyer!) And Battle Planet seems a tad bit too complicated, even in quick play. Why do we have to even bother with a player's HP when we could just keep battling our bois until only one is left standing! And get rid of that stupid "if a player misses a tile they lose" BS because that becomes anticlimactic.
