What i loved about the original is that while Bakugan was made to a game by humans (and also Vestals later) it was NOT a game at all. It was serious business, heck in the third season Gundalian Invaders there was a straight up WAR for gods sake

The powers and how they’re portrayed do, but that’s expected as time goes on…you’re going to figure out more stuff, better stuff. Use logic. All the seasons made sense and added up correctly. Whether or not you wanted it to be simple is the factor, and that’s where it started to get a little bit more complex in nature in some sense. Which people didn’t like.

I didn’t even know it was a card game until this year when I skipped around the episodes for Carmen Melville’s debut in Season 1, Ren Krawler’s debut in the final episode of New Vestroia (which, apparently Bakugan turned into Voltron and Zexal idk why), then his next appearance on episode 8 or 9 of Gundalian Invaders (which, apparently he has a Ryuga-esque backstory and Ryuto appearance (Ren also looks like the leader of Team Desert Blaze from Beyblade Metal Masters), AND they already went through the deception arc in less than 10 episodes. I have no idea why Ren’s VA changed from Kyoya to Tsubasa then back to Kyoya). I thought it was just like Pokémon but with different balls, but apparently they have magic spell cards too and can Fusion Summon Digivolve too ig (idk, I only watched like 10 episodes of the OG Digimon)

MY least favorite part about this whole system, is there will be zero "Playground bakugan" with this version. Its something beyblade failed at during the burst series, but luckily the shape of school chairs makes it work. But the BIG part of these games for the kids is "Can i play this with my friends at school?" Because getting to your friends' house isnt as easy to do but you see them everyday at school. This is what made old bakugan, yugioh, pokemon, beyblade, super popular. Your parents could get you 1 10-15 dollar product, and now your kid is occupied every lunch period, and they have something to do with their friends. Packing a beyblade or a ygo deck, or 1-2 bakugan and some field cards was SUPER easy. It took up a very small amount of space, and was extremely portable, while not taking anything AWAY from the experience. Beyblade the least so, but even then because the rules were so utterly simple, it was also really easy to *come up with your own way to play!* You could make a stadium out of dirt on the playground, or do it on the basketball court. Maybe you launch it down the slide, see how far it goes or whose bey reaches the bottom the fastest. Plus, most school chairs are roughly stadium shaped. With bakugan as long as you had the field cards and your bakugan itself, you could play literally anywhere that was a roughly flat surface. Desks, tables, the ground, didnt matter. However, with the new system, if you wanna use the spinning bits, you would need to use something roughly shaped like a stadium, but you also need the cards in the middle and that wont work on anything OTHER than the designed stadium, and aint no kid fitting that in their backpack and pulling it out at lunch. The ability to play the game practically anywhere massively affects how many return customers a product like this gets, and as-is their not gonna get a ton of those. Kids cant take these to school and play with them, cause the new field cards wont stick together unless they are held together, and so it just becomes a mess in the backback or on whatever surface you decide to use. The rules are too specific to be able to make up new ways to play, and the design of the toys is extremely rigid. these are not good playground toys, and thats not good.

I loved how in the orignal, the bakugan were in ball form, or in their open toy form. So if you had one on your desk, or shoulder, it would be the same as in the show. The giant monsters only show up while battling which just is awesome and show you imagine it as a kid

Personally, I like the original Bakugan series more in aspects of both anime and toys. I'll admit that the reboots are trying and I respect the cast and crew for all their effort. However, the reboots seem to diverge more and more away from what made Bakugan, well, Bakugan. For example, the toys' play aspects tends to replicate that of Beyblade and overcomplicates it a little. The attributes seem more Pokemon like than the unique aspects of the Bakugan attributes. As for the characters personalities now, I'm not even sure how to describe how I feel about them to be honest. I understand that they need to evolve, change, keep up and appeal to new generations as well as their likes and dislikes but they need to do that without overly changing Bakugan's signature identity. I'm gonna still give new concepts a chance but I can't say that my like for the new concepts will hold even close to half the weight of love I have for the Original Series.

@@starstruck8862 I think Hydranoid was weaker when used by Alice and she didn't use him effectively. She just doesn't have the nature and same determination and strategic mindset Masquerade had. She also just lacked that cunning that hydranoid was good with. I think the battle would have gone a different direction if he came back and partnered up with Hydranoid again. But alas he got a good character growth and they let him go :/ Still my favourite Bakugan antagonist. I liked Spectra as a bad guy too and he was a good rival to Dan. The one thing i didn't like the most in that season was Lync's fate. I really liked the change he was going through with his interactions with Alice, then they just had to kill him off like that :/ I wish he got to survive... Have Alice come in and save him... Alice is a sweet girl but she was pretty useless compared to Masquarade. I don't see many people comment about what happened to Lync so i'm not sure how many people care about it like i do. I'm also annoyed how easily Alice just forgot about him. Like he disappeared and she did nothing about it. Why didn't she try to find him? Sure he was the enemy and she didn't like him but at the same time it was foolish of her to not try to find him BECAUSE he was the enemy and she should of kept an eye on him and if she did that and kept interacting with Lync like she was already i think she would eventually see Lync's new behaviour and his character growth. I think he would of changed and not have been their enemy anymore and it looked like he might of developed a crush on her too which i thought was cute (I like the enemy to lovers or to friends trope okay ^^)

Action Duels were considerably more complicated than that because it was basically just regular duels with action cards and every action card had a different effect, including trap cards with negative effects. Course later into the anime most duels just disregarded this aspect of the game in spite of the continued use of action fields.

im grateful for the og with a great anime and great toys(for the first 2 seasons) and the reboot for amazing toys and gameplay but an alright cartoon but the new reboot fails in both aspects imo. compared to beyblade with hasbro cooking bakugan should just rest at this point

What they should have done with the anime is instead of rebooting it, they should have done what (yugioh/somewhat bayblade) did, and basically do spinoff sequel. That way the universe still feels connected you can have references here and there for nostalgia but also have a new cast and add new rules or whatever, and simply call it an evolution. instead of what they did with Dan & Drago. Like most of the new characters in G2 were neat (except knockoff masquerade #3) but the new Dan should have been a new protag. He genuinely annoyed me and made me wish for old Dan. But thats just my thoughts as someone who grew up with G1 bakugan as a younger kid

I can see what they were trying to do with Bakugan but it didn't work as well as they wanted. It's trying too hard to be Beyblade and all of the toys are expensive so parents aren't going to buy them for their kids.

I remember watching the Bakugan show as i kid, liked it quite a lot. Re-watched a lot of stuff years later on youtube as well. seeing the new series has given me a thought/idea for the series, but I seriously doubt it would be done properly given how companies are more profit motivated these days if they attempted it. The idea is a kind of remaster of the original series. using it as a template, everything will be refined without changing its core elements. So it would largely be the same story and characters. But with this small things can be added and changed to enhance the story over all. Later sessions can be foreshadowed better with more consistent elements. They could find ways to make better use of characters that were not used much originally either (never liked how they ditched half the main cast after the original season). over all we should get more of what we originally loved rather than loosing anything. they could even use the change to make the game mechanics a bit more complicated, adding to what as originally there so there can be more actual strategy to the game. (latter seasons would probably be change more because of the domino affect) there are probably a lot of things that could be added if i thought about it deeply, but yeah, i doubt any of this will every happen. As i said before, if they did it would probably get interfered with and ruined by corporate.

Idk why companies do this. They could have just rebooted G1 Bakugan and gave it an animation upgrade. Keep it simple and don't make it a galactic war after the second season. Just keep it a simple anime and game series. It's literally right there. One of the coolest things they did was when Bakugan could evolve. I hated when they started making equipment and stuff. Yu-Gi-Oh doing the same thing. They have Sevens/Rush and then they have the regular card game going side by side it. Just reboot the original anime and give them updated decks since all they do is nostalgia grab off Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes, Red-eyes, etc.

@@christopherford39 No I did not know they lost the rights. I can't even find anywhere it says Spin Master/Sega lost the rights to names. The only difference is Netflix does the anime now. It just seems like Netflix decided not to keep the same naming convention as the past two series except Dan and Drago. Could you link me to an article or anywhere they said they couldn't use those names anymore? Anyways...... They don't need the rights to the OG characters names. They have Dan and Drago that's all they need, the two main characters. Everyone else could just be renamed and redesigned. They constantly keep rebooting this series and either making it overly complicated or just not fun. They had the groundwork for a great series. They can simply go back to it's simpler gameplay style and simple story and just leave out making it some epic galactic war.

@yep_itsmeagain I didn't say names. I said the og characters themselves. Sega owns the character designs, not the names, that's why names like Shun and Hydranoid have been given to characters that don't even resemble the legacy versions. Remember, bakugan was a joined venture between Sega Toys and Spin Masters also as much as I would love to link the article, KZbin seems to hate links nowadays cause it seems when I try to post a link it just ends up deleted.

In my opinion, I kinda like the new Bakugan reboot. Much like how past iterations gave humans something to do (Open gate cards and activating abilities in Gen 1 and grabbing and throwing cores to Bakugan in Gen 2), I liked how the producers of the show decided to take more of a parkour approach with power-up collectibles and varying architectures to maneuver around. Not to mention new characters are highly welcome, as I'm not that good at making OCs and I doubt the companies that run Bakugan would use the OCs anyways. I like Mia, Juno, and Thunder Crunch, and I think they are great additions to the growing Bakugan cast and universe. I hope more seasons get pumped out, even if the lengths got shorter. Who knows? Lately, I've been thinking of yet another Bakugan reboot that follows the events of Mechtanium Surge, and makes the brawlers into fighters that can morph into their own Bakugan as a "beast mode" fighter for increased power and abilities allowing for more devastating fights. I hope this happens considering Bloody Roar being dead for a very long while. If done right, there could be a chance Bloody Roar can be revived as a response to the Bakugan brawlers as fighters that transform into their own Bakugan.

This show have 5 seasons and a reboot already if i'm correct. No need for another one. The last season made the game really boring; there was no strategy. Pick a shiny disk and throws it at your Bakugan, do that over and over until you win. That's not fun! In the first and second season, the heroes could use; a trap card, their gate cards, a lot of abilities to boost the speed or power of their bakugans. They think before making a move, it was interresting and cool! The characters were not interresting or likable than the ones in G1. I still remember Marucho, Shun, Alice, Runo, Julie and Dan. I can't remember any names from the reboot. I know there's 1 girl, a dog and two guys... that's it 😐
