I would first off make sure you have two new Champion RC12YC spark plugs gapped at .03 and then I would get a spark tester and see, sounds like it's running on one cylinder. Also, look at fuel. There's a test port on the gas regulator, you can use a manometer. You need to have 7-11" water columns feeding it, static (not running) and when running it shouldn't drop more than 1" max, if its more than that then it's being starved for fuel. The throttle is doing its thing, but it sounds a lot like it's not firing on both cylinders. Might need new magnetos. Even after adjusting that fuel screw, it still sounded like it was not running on both cylinders. Check spark. Take the top off - a lot easier to get at the rear cylinder...

Thank you for the detailed explanation and good information. I can tell your knowledge is from your years of experience with these. The plugs were new and correctly gapped (Champion of NGK, I forget what I used) prior to this video being published. The spark was monitored at both cylinders as well, done at night so I could better see the intensity. I did put my manometer on the regulator test port. As suspected my gas supply volume is a little low, not much I can do about it unfortunately. I did find a point the engine runs smoothly for the most part it’s just very sensitive to seasonal weather changes. I readjust as needed. I also load monitor when generator is in use, so it never has a heavy continuous load. My only correct solution would be a larger gas supply line and likely a higher volume gas meter. Unfortunately that gets sticky where I live as permits and inspections will be required. My installation is grandfathered in as the first smaller generator was installed back in 1998. This Kohler replaced it a couple years back. Since the original installation the village regulates backup generators more strictly the last several years.

My generator is doing the same thing which direction do I turn the screw

Try 1/4” to 1/2” turn one direction and watch the throttle linkage. Then try turning it the other direction 1/4 to 1/2 turn. You want to make the throttle hold as steady as possible, when the generator is not under load. I have found mine is sensitive to various temperature and humidity conditions. It may take you several tries to find the right setting. Do this each time when the engine is cold.

I have a generator similar to yours, have you ever changed coils, mine starts hard when it is wet? Thanks

I’m sorry your having problems. If you haven’t yet, pick up a simple spark tester. Connect it when the engine is cold, maybe do it in the evening so you can see it clearly. You don’t want to change coils for no reason, it’s a big job taking everything apart to access them. I have not changed coils but I did some careful spark testing at the beginning, when I first experienced the problem. One of the tests was spraying a mist of water on the plug wires with the top cover removed in the dark There were no problems with it running or misfiring. I did finally determine the gas adjustment needed to be reset for the cooler weather.
