I had a good friend who had me make paper gaskets and use Indian gasket maker. Tractor supply sells the paper and the cork ….he showed me with the paper to flatten it out first then place it on the side of the edge using a brass hammer you could lightly tap the edges of the metal and it will give you the imprint of the gasket. Then use a harbor freight knife of your choice and should make exact replica of what you need.

Great advice. I’ve been making my own gaskets for years. I just use a small ball Pien hammer to tap it out. Works every time even on the holes

I’m glad you dont mind my comments but imo sometimes you just need a little brain rattle to jog our memories. I knew you already knew it right after i said it. Now it will be fresh in your mind til it gets filed away somewhere in the back with other stuff..lol🤣

@@chrisallen3741 definitely. With the projects I get into here and with viewers it’s quite easy to run out of memory. Lol. Kinda like sending things to the cloud for later.

Well, what i thought i fixed is back again……the darn thing makes a hissing sound or like a vacuum leak….and it feels like she Boggs down….would that be injectors?
@bayoudiesel Жыл бұрын
@@chrisallen3741 I doubt it. You may want to check your exhaust back pressure valve. It may be sticking closed. It normally closes to allow faster warm up but if they stick they can make a hissing like noise out of the tail pipe. Have you had any check engine lights? Have you checked for codes? Do you have access to a scanner for live data?

Hello, there its been awhile….ive recently had my 7.3 act up and i think its my fault. I replace the 2 relays on top of the motor and replaced that little value thing on the drivers side value cover. I removed the hose to get to it and since ive heard a sucking noise and it has drawn the motor til it passes and stops….would the value in the value cover do that? Or do i have a different issue?
@bayoudiesel Жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the crank case vent? The rectangular box that mounts to the top of the driver side valve cover?
@chrisallen3741 Жыл бұрын
Yes sir, i dont know what would cause the vacuum noise. It sounds like it sucks air and drags the engine rpm down then it lets go and acts normal til a few seconds go by and it does it again

@@chrisallen3741 that box and it’s little elbow hose vents pressure that may build up in the lower part of the engine. It vents this psi into the turbo intake hose to be burnt in the engine. The sound you are hearing may be a leak in that hose or housing and the sound could be from the turbo sucking in air or psi leaking out. Not sure why or how that would cause the engine to lug down tho.

I’ll have to take a picture and look at it. When my father in law passed away the motor was pressured washed and i noticed some oil on the hose attached to the turbo. It looks like the oil was sprayed onto it @@bayoudiesel

@@chrisallen3741 the turbo plumbing and intercooler usually have some oil inside them from that little elbow hose we talked about. It gives you oily mist from the crank case. Usually nothing to be concerned with unless it’s quite a bit.
