This video helped me diagnose a cylinder wasn't firing and that's because when I worked on the cylinder last, I didn't install the push rods properly. One was bent, and I straightened it, and will be replacing it in the fuiture. Thank you!

@@RayofallTrades "Pro" tip: use a plastic mallet/hammer and a flat piece of wood - pine or some other softwood. I used 2 pieces of wood and my bench vice to get the rod straightness into the "neighbourhood ", then hammered the rest out. I live in a rural area, so there's no handy shop to go to for new parts, so you can imagine my motivation to repair it. So far 2 lawns cut, and it's working fine. Got any videos on how to tune these engines without a tach?
@RayofallTrades Жыл бұрын
@@limogesfarmer6326 that's great advice. I usually do it by ear if the tach isn't around. If you get amazon, the tach is like $15

Thumbs up. Love the video. Same mower, but I’m getting a low oil pressure on the lcd screen. Do you have any videos on this by chance with a diagnose and fix?
@RayofallTrades4 ай бұрын
I don’t but look for the sensor attached to the engine block. Usually has 1 wire. They can get disconnected or shorted or clogged.
@adaminmadison4 ай бұрын
@@RayofallTradesThank you very much. I will try to locate the sensor and hope that fixes the issue.

Sir I got a zt1 42 cab cadet zero turn when change the carb thinking that was the reason my mower lossimg power but after I change it and I go.to engaged the blade still loss.power what u think should be the issue the coil u think
@RayofallTrades5 ай бұрын
First disconnect the spark plugs one at a time to see if 1 cylinder is dead. If so, swap the spark plug then coils around to see if the problem move. This will help you find the bad parts
@EmilioDelaRosa5 ай бұрын
@RayofallTrades well the spark plug are new so u think I might be the coil wire
@RayofallTrades5 ай бұрын
@@EmilioDelaRosanot necessarily. New plugs can be bad but if the problem was before and after changing them, then not likely. Identify the bad cylinder then swap the coil or test with a spark tester before you buy any parts

@RayofallTrades OK imagine try that but when it's running and I engaged the pto to turn on the blades the power get weaker ima try that I hope that solve the problem

@@rnr1880 it was a butane torch but the flame was turned down. The yellow one I used is not as reliable as the bernzomatic one like I sent you. I have several types. I like the bernzomatic ones the best. My yellow one dies at half full.

Could this be a potential cause for intermittent surging. I have replaced many components on my Kohler 7000 with smart choke. Sometimes it runs great and than sometimes it runs poorly.
@RayofallTrades4 ай бұрын
Absolutely. I’ve seen it quite a bit.
@JAU-pg9ct4 ай бұрын
@@RayofallTrades I put in new coils and started the engine. Black smoke started coming out of the exhaust and ran poorly. After a few minutes of running it cleared up and started running amazing. I’m wondering if I may of flooded the engine when turning the flywheel to line up the magnets because I’m assuming that’s how the fuel pump works. I ran it for about 30 minutes with no issues. I’m hoping my problem is fixed. One of the old coils had some kind of gunk on it. I think that may of been my issue.
@RayofallTrades4 ай бұрын
@@JAU-pg9ctyou are correct,black smoke is rich from being flooded. Depending on how many times you cranked without spark would lend to being rich. Glad you got it fixed -and thanks for sharing!

Hey man, i don’t know if you still check comments but I would appreciate it a lot if you could get back to me! I have a 2005 foreman 500 and it has been idling rough. The battery is out in it so I’ve been having to pull to start it. Like I said it Idles real real rough and will even shut off especially when I give it gas, but as soon as I the lights on it runs idles way better? Any clue ?
@RayofallTrades Жыл бұрын
The battery helps with ignition on that quad. I would put a battery in or at least a jump pack before you start adjusting or changing anything
