Coming along really well, it must give you a great deal of satisfaction knowing this is all your own hard work. PSB or EA Pure+ filter start, I know PSB smells a lot worse, but as I alternate between the two, one week one next the other, I’m not sure which works best. They both get excellent reviews, so my take on it was best of both worlds. Your pond will look like the main pond at koi water barn, with the big tall window. I think I would have a full block coming of the inside of each side wall, which would give you a block and a half on the alternate levels and would give you a huge window. Not sure if this would be the strongest, but I think would look the best. Good to hear you have life under control now and things are going well for you. Stay safe and well 👍🏻
@KraftyKoi2 жыл бұрын
It does Steve, I just hope it doesn’t fall over. I’m the type that screws a screw into some wood and the wood travels up the screw rather than screwing in 😂😂. Ref PSB, I deffo see a difference in the water when o add it, which I know is good for my Koi at the mo given the increased feed and small water volume. I’m on two minds reference the height aspect as I simply couldn’t dig any lower as I couldn’t get machinery as I’d hoped. It’s either going to be a large window and high pond wall or I may have to sacrifice some water volume for the sake of the garden. Thanks for your kind words and feedback it’s very appreciated, hopefully keep my head straight now. 👌🏻🇯🇵🙌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👌🏻🙌🏻🤚🤩

Coming along nicely, we are in the same boat with the window, trying to work out dimensions, recess to fit in with the fibreglass etc don't want it to be too recessed as want it flush as possible, which company are you getting the glass from? Most have a tech team who will give you plenty if advice, I'm calling tuffex later today for tech advice on ours.

I haven’t decided who I’m getting glass from bud. Let me know how you got on. I keep changing my mind what I want, I’m so indecisive 🤷🏼 😂

Having done some research for the pond I'll be building next year, I think the nexus will be a great filter for the space I have available, the question I have is, how would you attach the skimmer and bottom drain to the nexus if it only has one inlet? I won't have the space for 2 filters but I don't want to compromise in not having a skimmer fitted to the pond. ( the pond will be roughly 3x2.5M and 4ft deep) any advice you can give on the planning stages would be much appriciated, keep up the great peogress
@KraftyKoi2 жыл бұрын
You would need to join outlets prior to the inlet on the nexus, but it’s a strain and a pain for the water flow rates, less efficient and problematic especially when trying to fix an issue. The best thing to do is add an alternate filter to your skimmer line such as a tempest or alternative bakki shower. It alls come with expense and the tempest is the cheapest solution. You would need two separate pumps for this method but it would mean that you have two lines that can be controlled separately or even closed off if needs be. I hope this helps if not drop me a call. Telephone number is in the about tab on my page or via @thekraftykoikeeper on FB.
@karloffgrid2 жыл бұрын
@@KraftyKoi thank you so much for your reply. I think looking at what you suggested I will go for the bottom drain on a nexus and the skimmer on a tempest, that way I can put the tempest on the wall and not encroach on my restricted floor space, I'm sure I will have many more questions about equipment etc as I go along the planning stage but I want to make sure I know exactly what I'm running and how I'm running it before I even put a shovel in the ground, thanks again for taking the time to reply
@KraftyKoi2 жыл бұрын
The main thing to look at is the flow rates of your pond. Calculate the volume and look at the specifics for the turnover per hour on your filter system. Nexus are brilliant but they do have flow restrictions for optimum performance which can hinder decisions. Another reason for separating your skimmer line is that you don't need to worry about flow rates, in fact they will contribute to your turnover with an additional filter attached. Always happy to help where possible.

@@KraftyKoi I still have lots of learning to do that's for sure. I'm a complete novice when it comes to Koi, I do have a couple goldfish in a small above ground pond that's shop bought but it's no where near the scale of a Koi pond although there is some similarities (ammonia, nitrite and PH levels etc) I've been told that the turnover for a Koi pond should be the pond volume per hour but like I say, I'm still learning the hobby in advance so I do have lots of basic questions
@KraftyKoi2 жыл бұрын
@@karloffgrid remember its not keeping Koi mate. But keeping water so water parameters are vital but Koi are a little less hardy than goldfish so will turn over in the worst conditions. the flow rate is spot on.
