So glad you came back on and gave us some details about Ferrari. I figured she just got bumped around pretty good while traveling. That is a long journey for such a big fish. She was huge! Her travel was probably like a 350 lb woman in a tiny bumper car. You are going to get bumped and bruised. I really miss my goats and kids. I would go out in the field and the kids would play king of the hill on my back. I also had a tree that grew in a slant over the spring fed creek in my backyard. Those goats would run up and down that tree. It was always a joy to watch them. God bless y'all

It was good that you were able to address the issues raised in the previous video. You handled this perfectly. My main concern was having this fish in isolation as it was ill. I'm so glad you have learnt from this experience and are changing the way you do things in the future.

Such great info. It's crazy, but it the experiences I've had with both koi & goldfish. Less is more & basics are key. Patience is key , Clean water, massive water changes and good quality food go a long way. R.I.P Ferrari

I might have quarantined the fish in a 150 and added lots of boiled catappa leaves to help with the septicemia. They have known anti-septic properties. as well as adding aquarium salt, and an antifungal medicine. plus fed it medicated food, and fed it chopped up garlic, which has medicinal benefits , too.

Thanks for sharing the update. Doc J has consulted with us on several cases of large koi with various issues. Most have had very positive outcomes, sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. Sorry for the loss of Ferrari, I know the Team at Aquascape worked tirelessly to help her comeback around. Stress in big koi is no easy battle!

I know it was not cheap definitely a huge loss for you all. We just lost a koi to an aggressive case of ick. I tried absolutely everything and the Ick was just to much for the koi to handle. Luckily I got him out of the pond in time for him not to infect the rest of my fish( it’s been three months since I took him out). We had him briefly and it was my husbands koi, so I’ll be buying him a new one and quarantining this new koi, that was my biggest mistake with the last one. Lesson learned.

Does a big koi mean an old koi? I didn't hear age being mentioned as a factor in Ferrari's death. So, is age a factor?

Great question!!! No, It’s all genetics, I have a few personal Koi that are 30 years old and they’re smaller than some fish I saw in Japan that were only 2 years old?!?!

Soooo, it seems to be that you should buy fish from a known domestic dealer whose imported fish have had time to get healthy after being imported.

You should have put a visibly sick injured Ferrari in a hospital tank right after you opened the shipping box. You can observe and treat the sick fish easier in a hospital tank. Is your fault to put a visibly sick fish injured Ferrari in the main tank. A newly arrived visibly sick fish could have infected all the healthy koi fish in the main tank.

Yeah lesson learned people.... There's a difference between opinion and thoughts Vs. FACTS backed up by science!!!!!!! I can't stress that enough!!!!! but! this is KZbin..lol facts and science don't matter, right!!

Those cut away shots of all those koi swimming around its virtually impossible to have pristine water with all that gravel. Koi are shi*ing machines. You need to get it out of the water as quick as possible
