What happens if you can only use Horse Archers in Bannerlord?

Today we are taking a look at an Horse Archers only challenge in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. The horse archer only challenge in bannerlord is nothing new, but I thought I'd give it a go owing to my unique skill as someone that has never ridden a horse, but I am however an archer in real life! Join me, Koifish, as I attempt to conquer Mount and Blade Calradia with nothing but my horse, my bow and a few hundred horse archers as the Khuzaits! Let our arrows strike true!

2:40 actually, in my opinion, the sturgians are the best target for horse archers, since they barely field any cavalry at all, and if you go around them the right way the shield wont help them

Sturgian shields and armor are a bitch though, battania is much easier and they also barely use cavalry

My first actual gameplay I was part of the the Kuz and I made an army of only horse archers and I remember I would use the clouds and forest to snipe enemies from across the map. it was legendary!!! 😆 plus I had a long glave and I felt like WhiteBeard or something

If you get the Veteran's Respect perk, you can convert steppe bandit prisoners upto Khuzait Heavy Horse Archers, Heavy Lancers, and even to Khan's Guards. I also like to mix in Karakhergit horse archers and Mounted Sword Sisters.

Intercepting villagers from horse production villages on their way to sell them in a city usually gives a lot of horses - I've gotten like 50 from one group of villagers before

Interesting picking the weaker option here…Khan’s Guard are still super OP, best units for battles but are vulnerable in siege.

As far as cavalry go, they aren’t that bad in sieges, honestly. The fact that they get glaives mean that they at least stand a fighting chance on the walls, unlike similar units that tend to try and fight with lances.

they're not even really vulnerable in sieges. Dismounted khans guard are like 3rd best shock troops behind only sturgian heroic line breakers and aserai palace guards I would say.

Line them up in loose formation 30-40 meters along the whole length (or as much as possible) along the walls and enjoy the show, lmao. They'll just destroy anyone on the walls. When they'll run out of arrows, they'll just pick up ones around them (from low tier enemy units missing). Then just charge. Pretty sure you can easily take castles with like 3 times more defenders than your army. It just takes more time, than a proper siege army with diverse troops, but it requires less micro managing. Also if you run out of arrows altogether and there still are too many enemies, just retreat and go back again.

It’s a shame they dicked up horse archer ai to where they charge into enemy formations EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE ARROWS significantly more often. Which means you have to actually have to play the game and can’t just hit f6 and win 99% of the time.

Fighting the sturgians with the horse archers is probably the easiest. Most of the time the sturgians have majority infantry with few cavalry. All you have to do is make 2/3 separate groups of horse archers. The AI will for some reason only focus on one group and ignore the others. You can use the AI’s stupidity to your advantage by maneuvering the other group(s) behind the sturgian shield wall and just shoot their backs, and unless you get to close to them, they will continue advancing toward the targeted group and ignore the people shooting them in the back.

I tried it. after around 100 T3 and T4 merc units I decided to use regular units I freed from bandit hideouts. Still have the mercs but they are only maybe 30% of my army now.

I've done this before, inspired by the supposed Gengis Khan quote 'I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.' I'm doin this rite now its the best, I got over 160 kharn guard. But I only hire nobleman's sons as they come with a horse or torrguds because u need a war mount to upgrade past tier 2 and they pricey early on. And nothing else.
