Yeah I didn't think he'd actually do it. Looks great. After Christmas I'll be getting more into OSU after building my PC and this video was super helpful because I had no idea which tablet to get. Knowing that pros use actually affordable tablets makes me really happy, because I won't have to do any tablet upgrades in the future.

I got the 472 right before you and beast switched over to it, I used to have a 480 but the pen kept giving me issues so I wanted to buy a new tablet, was gonna get a 480 but I saw some people saying that the 472 has no hardware smoothing so I got this instead. It is literally the exact same tablet just with a different design, I don't drag so I can't really say anything on that issue (just get a cover lol) but the weight of the pen is literally a non issue, it is a very minimal difference and would only take a few days of getting used to tbh. If you are getting one of the two I would say just get a 472 because it is cheaper and it is new rather than second hand so it's kinda a win win tbh

I've been using the 472 for about 2 weeks now after 4 months of mouse, and I have to say, I love it! As you said, dragging will eat the nibs fairly quickly, but it hasn't affected me all too much, and I'm glad I did my research before buying a tablet!

Dragging on the tablet for the first week feels hard cause of the paper texture. But the texture wares down pretty quick if u play a lot. My area is pretty much smooth now and a lot better for dragging. Pen is too light and too small for ppl with bigger hands. Pen nibs ware out super fast but nibs are really easy to get. Tablet can be flipped even vertically in the wacom driver if the cable is annoying you. Price is cheap and easy to find. Overall quite worth it.

I switched from a Huion H420 to a CTL472 and I can confirm as a dragger the nibs dissappear so fast, so I'm trying to change my grip to fix that issue. And yes, the surface feels weirddddd as hell at first, but you get used to it. Aside from that, the sensitivity is amazing, I would recommend it if you're willing to go through those changes.

I actually drag on the raw tablet and it doesn’t wear that fast. I’ve used just about every mainstream tablet out there from Gaomon to Wacom, you name it however I haven’t switched out the nib and it’s still fairly even. One thing I have to add to this is that I don’t drag with too much pressure so that reduces friction and I also have been dragging for long enough that my area is etched into the surface of the tablet. This spot is of course is smoother which further reduced that friction because I scratched away that raw grippy surface.

Its tough cause my previous tablets (veikk s640 and xp pen g640) both have a smoother looking cursor due to the higher report rate than the wacom 472 (133 rps on 472 as opposed to 200+ rps on veikk and g640) but the wacom has by far the best responsiveness out of the 3. The report rate is a shame though since the 472s cursor looks a tiny bit choppy on my 165hz monitor

The g640 and the s640 don't actually have a higher internal report rate. The report you see in osu! is actually the USB report rate, which can be anything up to 1000 if you wish so. You can achieve this effect with hawku or OTD driver

I bought it 2 months ago and its a really good tablet helped me improve a lot the only thing i dont really like is the pen since its pretty small and sometimes gets into weird pos when i sweat . But overall instead going for a 480 and risk since you have no clue how the owner used it. Just go for the 472 get a tablet cover and you good to play. Enjoy your new tablet! :D

I had both of them in front of me as I found a cheap used 480 shortly after ordering a 472 but decided to return the 472. The build quality on both of them is awesome and for me it came down to the pen as well. I prefer the 480s pen as it just feels much better with that slightly grippy bottom part opposed to the cheap feeling pen of the 472. I wanted a new tablet specifically for the pen as I used a XP-Pen G430s before. Gameplay wise the slightly bigger and heavier pen didn't really make a difference but my grip felt a bit safer because of that rubber texture. I'm hovering with a relatively small area (57mm wide, 16:9) btw.

I bought the 472 earlier this month and so far I can say that I don't have to worry at all about the pen nibs, since I hover and I don't drag. And I can also say that it feels really good on Osu! And that I couldn't be any more satisfied. I don't see any cons between this and the 480 seeing as if you are worried about pen nibs you can hover, or you can get a cover.

if durability is a concern for you, i'd say stick to the 480. if friction can wear off the nibs this faster because of the texture, a flat surface certainly beats all in terms of having a decent build.

I bought a 472 three years ago and I switched to a 471 because I liked the surface and I use makeshift nibs so thats not an issue for me,but the pen was just absolutely disugsting for me. It shines up with use since its all just ABS plastic and it has no rubber grip and its also too small for my hands and too light. When I switched to the 471 like a year ago (you can take this with a grain of salt),instantly felt much more comfortable with the pen and I've never had sweat/grip-slip issues ever after which just made osu a much more fun experience in general.

Something that no one talks about these two tablets it's that the 480 registers the pen hovering to 20mm and the 472 only 10mm I'm a hover player so that's why i got the 480, not because every top player uses it, because i'm a hover player and my xp pen g640 only registered 10mm and i was having lot of troubles with it So if you drag don't think twice and go for the 472 If you're a hover player... good luck finding a 480 because mine wasn't only hard to find, but expensive too ;-;

HOVER AIMERS BE WARNED: i just want to add my 2 cents here, i had a 472 for a couple years and was not impressed. it was better than any other tablet i had used, but i knew something was wrong. i was having cursor skipping issues and dropped input constantly. i used one of my friend's 472 as well and had the same issue. well, after struggling with it for years, i spilled soda on it and it finally died completely and my boyfriend bought me a 480. when i say i love this tablet, i mean it. it's just plain better. something with how the pen tracks is just more consistent and i can confidently play at my best. i don't know why the 472 was so bad in my experience with the 2 that i used, but i can't in good faith recommend this tablet, especially to hover players.

I use a XP pen star g430s really small tablet but works really well for osu! it may just be my tablet but every once in a while it teleports to the top left of my screen during gameplay every 5 seconds and it effects my performance a ton

Sadly my pen for the 480 has fully died (makes sense after being broken in half but still worked for a good half a year still lol) but that was my 2nd one after being dumb with the previous one and spilling coffee on it (this is over 6 years but still i am accident prone) and now the price for a 480 is like £55-£60 which I can't justify spending when it's just an old tablet that doesn't get made anymore, but this one being only £35 and being the exact same and having slight more friction which is what I prefer seems amazing so will %100 be picking this up!

@@ruto1_ the pen is a little better becuz it doesn't lose connection as much when accidentally pressing its buttons and its a little more sweat resistant. You're probably going to want to put a cover on the 472 coming from the g640 tho because it doesn't slide whatsoever. Order the cover sooner than later because covers take REALLY long to ship.

I use the Wacom intuos S (CTL-4100). It is a great Alta key for osu as it is very accurate and low input lag. However I feel like I need more space for my hand so it isn’t constantly on the corner of the tablet. I would get the 480 but that’s discontinued so I’ll be getting the 472 next.

I have the VEIKK S640 with a mousepad on top of it for friction and when I need to use my mouse, getting the 472 for the lighter pen and for no smoothing. :D

I just switched from the VEIKK S640 to the 472 and I've been missing so many easy jumps just because of the lack of latency and thus making me aim on circles too fast (though when I added smoothing I played basically the same as before). The friction was also a bit hard to get used to (as compared to the VEIKK without anything on top of it). The pen basically feels like you're holding a thin mechanical pencil (its much lighter than the pen for the VEIKK). The pen nib for the VEIKK is kinda loose and u can kinda wiggle it but the pen nib for the 472 is tight (so tapping with the pen nib is a lot more stable). Overall its a significant upgrade from the VEIKK S640, you might want a tablet cover for it though. I'm just gonna use it without one right now.

I was a 471 user before I broke the usb port on it, then I bought 472. The official wacom driver for 472 feels to have a higher delay than 471. But the hover distance of 472 is noticeably worse than 471. I would say the only good thing of 472 is the pen

My only complaint about the 472 is it doesn't have an eraser tip. I play with the eraser on a CTH-680, with a mousepad on top of the tablet. Pretty much the perfect combo. Now finding a wacom tablet with an eraser tip is expensive (I'm looking at you Intuos Pro).

CTL 472 is literally a cheaper CTL 480 clone. Everything is essentially the same however it’s slighter cheaper in build quality. Performance wise is the same and no compromises in that aspect what so ever. I prefer this tablet simply because it’s just as I said, the CTL 480 I used to love to play with but for an affordable price. Buy it now before prices skyrocket 🤣

i started off with mouse and was able to beat nagareboshi- amatsuki (6star) and finally decided to get a tablet. i didnt wanty to go all out nor did i actually know anyone who knew a good tablet to use so i went with huion h420 and i litterally bought it cause it has 420 in it XD honestly not a bad option for starting off. im still using it paired with TabletDriver GUI, (60mm area) i started off with a freakin 12mm area cause it felt right? i think? and later found i needed to get it closer to 50 for more acc. after training with these setting for like 5 months i am finally back to where i was with mouse and just on the cusp of completing a 7 star (im soo close to beating neverland - the peggies or scarlet stars- booty loose) but am actually looking for something better. nice video. even tho im mad late. you cleared up some confusion i had about wacoms tablet (other than the exalted 480) and whether or not it was worth. thank you. nice video. i love your content btw
