Essentially if no felons can vote, then the remaining people that can vote are people in PD, Doctors and civ grinders(mostly people from Paleto that are all good friends with Max and Siobahn). These people are by default against crims. Now in a real world scenario this is absolutely fine, however this is a RP server where people chose to be criminals because there's more content in crim stuff. Anyways, if by "people's vote" koil means non-felons, I can already see this being a thing again where civs and PD that have no crim experience and how crim mechanic works making laws that ultimately effects the crims. This will be another headache to deal with in the future.

a potential problem on the opposite side would be crims banding together to vote out DOJ and positions until someone inept gets in, so it just gives them the ability to turn all of the votable positions toothless

guessing you havent heard koil saying there is a system coming what crims do will affect the city, but the laws will still be reviewed by the server owners, this is what people dont know that those legislation they write it in RP then present it to the owners or whoever is incharged of that if it gets approved then they make RP to make it happen, the example is the adoption fraud in 3.0 they said the family shit was crazy that they dont want to happen again so this time they put it as a law now what happened is chatterbox abusing it to get in debt like he did in 3.0 with i think 150mil so they saw it and got rid of it then they debters law comes in to band aid that but shit didnt work too so they remove it

They can in the way that actually makes the most sense. All of the public can vote for the mayor and deputy mayor, anyone who works in the health sector can vote for the person who is on the council that represents them, anyone who works for the PD can vote for their representative, DOJ the same. I think the only person who isn't voted on is Crane who was supposed to be the "state" behind the scenes and I believe wrote most of the initial laws etc at the start of 4 and was, supposed to make sure none of the mayors were able to go to OTT and prevent things from getting to imbalanced like he did a bit in 3 but for some reason he's seemed to let max and Siobhan do whatever they want and gone along with it rather than keeping their corruption and power hunger to a reasonable level.

@itarry4. That's not strictly true. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are voted by everyone. Crane is appointed by the state. The treasurer is appointed by Crane (with input from the Mayor?). The chief of staff is appointed by the Mayor. The PD, Healthcare and Head of Bar are elected by their members. This means that of the 8 positions, 3 are appointed and 5 are elected, however, of those elected only 2 are elected by and answerable to the entire city. The other three are appointed by, answerable to and there to represent special interests groups. Therefore, the vast majority of those making laws in the city are not representatives of the people.

@@derekhorne8076 Its a very odd situation because the City Council is both not selected by the people and yet the people technically have complete control over the council. The reason why this is true is because Mayor selects the Chief of Staff guaranteeing 2 votes minimum. Then because the Mayor has unilateral control over the sliders that change Doctor pay, he has the ability to strong arm that council member to vote for him. At the same time PD liaison is basically guaranteed to vote for the mayor because the Mayor has direct control over how the police department is run (not talking about commissioner, regular Mayor's have a large amount of control over the PD, for example the quota point system was from the Mayor before he was commissioner.) as well as how much they get paid. This gives the Mayor 4 out of 8 votes with minimal effort and the rules for a vote on legislation is that they only need 4votes to pass, so long as the Mayor is apart of that vote. With that being said, it also seems like Crane has final say over legislation, and apparently he just has the power to put a law into legislation by himself without anyone looking at it. This is what he did with the Fioa law that Nino recently convinced him to write. In an even more bizarre turn of events, apparently regular Judges have this power as well. Idk if Angel spoke to someone like Crane before doing it, but her verdict on the recent case basically said "there is no law for this, so I am going to encourage that it is codified into law." regarding the fact that police should be required to notify people of their warrants/subpoenas using all known phone numbers as a well as sending a document to their phone. I suppose case law is weaker so if a council didn't like it they could write a law against that case law and force it to change. However, it feels a bit weird that Judges have so much power in this system. That fact that singular people not elected to their positions but placed into their positions have so much power over the law, is wild. Meanwhile, the people's votes require an entire team of people to pass legislation. No wonder the justice system of 4.0 has been anti-fun.

Criminals having no representation(council and DOJ) or ways to combat poor laws because all the lawyer quit is exactly why the server is in such a poor state rn. People are quitting because they made doing crime a chore and forced a ton of grinding

people already could attend council meetings to propose laws, people just didnt do it often because it was not advertised like clowns, bobby and carmine, farmers etc have done it and a few more

@@joentjee8405 speak to any council member and ask to come present something, literally any time someone asked they were told "okay, make sure to prepare beforehand" like half of the meetings had guests, the door is only locked to unexpected visitors (proven to be for good reason with the CG shooting happening, they only got in because it was briefly unlocked)

Yhea anyone can request to attend the council meeting to suggest a law or make a formal request for something to change or be done against a problem they think exists. Just it was pretty much a waste of time as Max had control of enough votes to do what he wanted regardless of if it was the best thing for the city or not. Rather than attending the meeting and asking the entire council you'd have been better off talking directly to Max or Siobhan and offering them something to pass the law or whatever you wanted doing. Same as he bought the votes of various groups around the election by offering to up their wages if they voted for him. Corruption like that I had no real issues with and it makes sense RP wise to allow a way for the Mayor to be corrupt just Max and Siobhan took it to far and started to do things that restricted the RP of many people which is when Crane needed to step in and reign it in. Don't know what happened to Crane in 3 he was often the one who'd stop the wrong laws from being approved and was like a bit of a check on how bad and what type of corruption was done but in 4 it's like he gave up or actually bought in to the Max as over lord thing

How would this change anything if it can just be contested by the Mayor, Sheriff or DOJ when no one knows who the stare is and it's quite likely it'll be the Streamer that plays Crane and other Devs who have been allowing all this to happen anyway? OK a public vote but if enough people vote in favour then it should automatically become law unless it was something obviously dumb.

I understand what they're trying to do and sounds good but its a terrible idea. Giving players so much power is part of the reason the server is in the state it is/was so fast after the update. If any of the owners paid any attention to thier server, they'd know this. Thier money would actually be better spent on someone just studying watching multiple streams 8 hrs a day to consult them. Cg is like over half the viewership of nopixel right now.

Anyone can try to impeach any council member just it's obvious it's never going to work so there's no point as nearly all the judges etc have bought in to the corruption even if they don't think they have and they all protect each other.

Yep exactly. So the only remaining people that can vote are PD, Doctors and Civ grinders(who are mostly the paleto group who were constantly supporting Max and Siobahn(check out gloriyon and the guilds stream)).
