Kokanee - Rainbow Trout - Yellow Perch Fishing - American Lake

Every now and then a Kokanee will succumb to the business end of a rod and reel on American Lake. Rainbow Trout on the other hand are a bit more abundant when fishing this beautiful Pierce County Lake. Yellow Perch are on the menu this time of year as well. Enjoy.

Right now is prime time to find an older GPS bow mount as everyone is upgrading for the season. Snag a used one for under 1k and you will not regret it. It will change the way you fish, forever.

I know you are not fond of lake "planter"trout. Both in American and Alder lakes there are native cutthroat which are delicious to eat. In Alder there aren't any raibows so if it is a trout it is cutthroat even if the color of the throat is not orange. American does have rainbow but the cutthroat do not all have orange on the throat. One way to tell is the length of the jaw/lip. Rainbows are shorter.
