I was privileged to take Hawaiian language lessons from Aunty Pilahi in 1975 right in Kailua town. Didn’t complete my studies with her (too young to appreciate the gift I was given) but learned not to use the word Aloha so loosely and opted for the greeting of “A no ai “ when meeting new people. Learned that from Aunty. She was the embodiment of ALOHA
