Mahilani Poepoe, Hawai'i

"Aunty" Mahilani Poepoe was a healer(lā'au lapa'au is a traditional medical practice using plants and minerals) and visionary. She taught the art of traditional lomi lomi massage, lā'au lapa'au and conducted ho'oponono (peacemaking sessions).
With a photographic memory, she learned massive amounts of genealogy. She not only memorized local genealogies but she was well-versed in the genealogies of other Pacific islanders.
She was in demand as a speaker international and spoke on peace issues around the world including at the United Nations. (honolulustaradvertiser)
