Who ever was in charge for this test is completely incompetent and cannot be trusted with passenger safety. Who does a brake test at the very end of the track? Why not a few km up the track so if brakes didn’t work as anticipated, there will be more track for the train to stop 🤦‍♂️

In Mumbai along, dozens if not hundreds die every day on the tracks. No one bats an eyelid as the 5000 people on that train need to get to work.

Already the 5 active routes have much less rakes than required. Thus these recently retired but "ok" rakes are used for trial and error phases.

First of all why the hell did they try this so called emergency brake test near a dead end. Usually it's into a catch siding into a sand pit with sufficient length. Bull shit planning which went totally wrong. Poor tree took the fall for ill planning.

The train was poor manufactured and their maintenance quality are horrible Never saw a train that the emergency brake is not even functional and the driver cannot do anything to stop the train until the it crash into two buffer stops and a coconut tree

That's exactly what I was thinking, apparently this is an older rake but the thing is that seems like this rake is built under specifications similar to a railroad railset where it takes longer for a train to completely stop or the breaks just straight up don't work

So... How much of that was planned and how much was an accident? A multiple-unit trainset - as opposed to a push-pull type with a locomotive - should come to a stop much more quickly than this one did with BIE - brakes-in-emergency. EDIT: what caused such a long braking distance, I wonder.

This seems like one of the more older "rakes", I'm not engineer but I do know basics about these trains and to be honest It feels like the Breaking System or actual motors are very weak. It is a train running on electricity right ? These are maybe made for railway standards hence the long break time (despite it being called a metro) OR there is something wrong with the brakes itself, both are bad

My Dad was an engineer for thirty years and I have to say, these people have NO CLUE how to do their jobs. You test a three step braking system ONE step at a time. Not full on with whole train. Shame....Shame....Shame.... Also, this is what happens right before the semi bosses lose their jobs!

This metro line is good for nothing as per public intrests are concerned , it runs at a distance of roughly 5-6 km, runs at an yawning frequency and unavailable in Weekends, don't know which morons planned its schedule, that individual or group totally is detached from the reality and avoids commuting in public transport.If its frequency partially tallied with that of east west or north south , we might have travelled a bit comfortably.But it is like selling mirrors to the world of blind and crying in wilderness.It is 12 years since this stupid project started but so far has yielded a big zero.

​@@shouvikdas1214 I still have hope. In ICF Chennai vande metro rakes have almost finished & will go to QC testing very soon. The rakes are actually compatible with our triple-line metro gauge system. Once the testing is complete we're gonna have new & better Indian rakes than the current AC ones.

According to the 'usual' logic an accident was expected as the untested breaks needed to be tested but not used as normal ones... However it looks like a different type of logic. Perhaps the breaks were working in other incarnations. Who knows? Anyway, it is like starting fire to test fire alarms.
