As an ashamed Yankee, the only time I'm aware of writing an 'Ø' is when I'm handwriting something that has both 'O's and '0's. then I strikethrough the zero to be able to tell the difference. This is normally for some code or model number for something. I wasn't even aware that there were people who were stupid enough to think that accented letters and foreign letters were just "fancy" ways of writing things. Then again, I really shouldn't be surprised by people stupidity at all anymore. :''-( (Just for the record I did not vote for that giant orange cheeto turd in office. )

Feel the Stirn Denmark didn’t invent them, Æ is Latin meaning it was invented in Rome, Ø was invented in Rome but changed in Old Norse (pre-danish times) and Å was invented by the Germans but was adopted later by Norway, Sweden and Denmark. (Sweden adopted it first, then Norway and lastly in 1948 the Danes adopted it into their alphabet.)
