Hey guys, you drove past our house in Málaga ☺️ It looks like you witnessed La Noche de San Juan by the river. It's normally celebrated on the beach each year with music, lanterns, fire, music and to eat sardines, but it wasn't possible this year due to the situation. Also, people go to the water at midnight to put water on their faces for good luck and health 🍀

Just asked to some friends who live in Spain mainland about the mistery people going to the river at midnight... Maybe it was the night from 23rd to 24th of June? If so, That was St John's day, el día de San Juan... the tradition has been in the whole country to set bonfires and in some places jump over the fires and then go to any place with water and refresh your feet... You can read more here about rituals, etc, but first look for a translator... ocio.laopiniondemalaga.es/agenda/noticias/nws-673845-tradiciones-ritos-noche-san-juan.html

@dcmelen Melendez I'm 20, and I also want travel through South America in a kombi just like you. If you speak Portuguese or Spanish and want to learn about t1 air-cooled disassembly, there is a channel named "Quintal do Tonella" in which 6 years ago(it's still watchable though), he made a series "Retifica do motor do Fusca 01" that he shows how to disassemble the whole engine step by step, so you can avoid the shitty mechanics. There is also Heidi and Franny's garage that has a whole video about basic air-cooled maintenance. If you do come to South America, have your documents and cards in a very safe, hidden place and put fake ones in the glove box along with a deactivated bank card(for if someone breaks in your kombi. Some only use the real documents on borders and show the fake ones to everybody else and police.. idk about that); If you decide to visit Brasil(it's incredibly beautiful but extremely dangerous), BR319 might still be a muddy hell; If you can, the best way to avoid burglars is for you and your kombi to look poor; Never tell anyone where you're going to sleep! If they ask, say you're going somewhere else you're not actually going. Avoid 24h gas stations that don't have truckers sleeping, might be a sign of high theft; Keep everything organized and make a list of all foods(not sure about objects) for when you need to cross a border, so you make your and their life easier. Some borders(can't remember if it's all of them) you can't cross with perishable stuff; Kombis have a problem with some random weak part in the differential that I can't remember what.. But CB performance explained in one of kombi life's videos; Oh yeah, for the love of good pay attention to the fuel cables(cables?) and make sure they won't come loose and drip gas on the engine.. so have fire extinguishers. This is what I learned from watching random Brazilians travelling in a kombi. The world has many evil and nice people, so it's never too much to be safe. Good luck! If you have any tips for me, feel free to share!

In popular Campsites In populated countries, or provinces, or states when that weekend hits - be ready 😲. I camped at Joshua Tree, CA for the first time on a Friday night. Woke up dropped my drawers and started washing my nads off just like every other morning with the campsite to myself. Then, a bus full of tourists drives by me 3 ft away. I look up, and in the two full campsites next to mine were girls staring 😆😆. In less than an hour before waking up, the place goes from abandoned to sold out, and this was in November.

Great to see you both out of Morocco and back in Europe. Your in better shape than here in the States. Lockdown in L.A. in a van was EASIER than indoors. It was a ghost town for weeks. No traffic. Loved it. Miss it. The L.A. County Sheriff's Dept orders were to leave people living in RV's, Busses, Vans, or tents alone during lockdown. Even though it's more serious now than in April, people are out & about with traffic almost at full capacity. Scary. Everybody is wearing a mask though.

That's interesting to hear that they were told to leave people in campers alone. That would have been a nice change knowing you weren't going to be told to move on.
@CaliforniaBushman4 жыл бұрын
@@KombiLife Yeah. 3 years ago, the ACLU won a case against L.A. County to stop harassing camper folk, and tent homeless on the streets (which America ignorantly lumps together) forcing a carousel of people (with clean records) being pulled into the Criminal Justice System and causing untold recidivism. The result was police in L..A. County can't knock on your window at night anymore. None do. And it's been three years since it's happened for me. I just stay outside of V.B. and L.A. city limits (and wealthy coastal communities) in South Bay (SW L.A. County) 2 - 3 miles inland where the vehicle camper and tent people problem is very small. And a constant ocean breeze blows in for 8 months of the year. It's the best climate in CA, or the U.S. It's been great, great urban camping.

The method of buying normal Food supplies bulk for 3 meals can run out in a few days. But their a diffrent way. if you love stew, dishes. They are compact and well sited for shopping, but that style cooking has to be set up first. flour, you got. get Mexican tortillas flour or corn meal flour. Mexican cooking texture w/ tomato . Potato starch. A creamy stew. and instant mash potatoes. That the same as 1/2 hr of melted potatoes. All of these thickener has a diffrent texture of stew. Then get a wide sortment of soup stock.and tomato sauce & paste. Next get noodle, pasta, macaroni, and rice stock up. The back ground food. Then get dry beans collection. The trick is almost boil then set aside for 20 minutes. Then they ready join the boiling cooking pot. As do the rice a hand full. Or macaroni. Broken noodle or pasta To make a 10 minutes stew. Fry it first w it's meat. Add 1 cut water stock, then flour it all types. The beans, ric , pasta going to need boiling/simmers it for 20 minutes. Veg cuts add verities. Even length wise, then again as strips, w/ tiny cubes. Add your spice, soy sauce or tomato.let it carbonized a bit adds taste. After water and your dry goods. And stock and Slow boil / cover. As it get down to 1/2 pot add your type flour, to thicken. That it What good is once you got your food setup. All you buy is a week veg & meat & fruit What I do the meat I just cook it a ice box it in the pan and end of week add rice to that pan and cook the remaining meat & rice Add sea food to it too.. And I boiled about 6 potatos and put it in there too cooked. You can make a salad some days etc. sometimes I cook a large pot of rice or pasta or macaroni and put it in the frig also. That the trick of easy diffrent type of food a meal. Long as you got this emergency food set up. You can go month w/ out buying food if have too. 1/2 of your food source are dry food now.

Make sure you wear protective eyewear (cheaply available) while working on or under the van as you may get rust flakes getting in your eyes. I’m a UK optometrist with my own VW . Good luck with your travels

Did the aluminum arch frame stop the chassis flex problem that was causing a crack in the paint and water leaking in?

Hi guys. I live in Broome, Western Australia. Some time in the future, you should come over here and travel in the Kimberley. Google 'Gibb River Road' 'Mitchell Plateau' 'El Questro Station' and 'Bungle Bungles'. It's really a travellers paradise here. I have a Mitsubishi van and I've travelled much of the Kimberley in it. The scenery is spectacular, and the wilderness is vast.

If you get stuck nearer home with no ferry we can help out with a place to leave your van not that far from Granville.

Hey Guys : Been watching you a long time. Great Videos. Anyway , wanted to ask you a question. There's a bus I like. Its 17' bumper to bumper. So I'm guessing maybe 15' living space on the inside. Wanted to ask you. How long is your VW from Bumper to Bumper and how many feet living space on the inside ???????? Thanks in advance. PS : I've had 7 VW's. 5 cars and 2 vans. Love them.

You should have bought a magnet to pull the metal from your eye! I had a friend who was a welder he had metal shavings in his eye and went to the doctor they literally said the quickest least invasive way to remove the shavings was with a magnet!

Your mystery midnight visitors ....They were probably praying. Water is a conductor for prayer .... they were probably praying for the water and possibly also for the circumstances (covid). Midnight is the doorway between 2 days, it is a good time to communicate between 2 realms .... you were probably staying in a sacred place and witness to a sacred ritual or ceremony with ancient roots... the next morning you were certainly bathing in sacred waters .... (remember to leave a "thank-you" to the spirits). ... New moon is a time for new beginnings ...

If at least we would know when was that and the place... I think maybe around Jaca but not sure so I can't say...

Natacha Thebeau Interesting. I’ve always found that the transition periods are strongest at dusk and dawn. The veils thins then. And the power is strong. Midnight is an artificial construct.

@@lindaterrell5535 This depends on the tradition and the purpose .... dawn and dusk are absolutely very powerful but for different purposes..... Keep in mind that there was also a solstice and eclipse around the last new moon (June), and the first of 2 new moons in Cancer (the other one today), which is a very rare occurrence ..... there is a lot happening in the sky this year that is extremely rare ..... this year is more than crazy on Earth, it's also crazy in the sky ..... following the energies can make dealing with "real life" a bit easier ... like seeing the bumps in the road before you hit them ....

Natacha Thebeau I feel that Nature doesn’t recognize midnight. It’s merely night. There was no such thing as midnight before someone came up with the concept of hours. There was day and following the sun, then there was night and hiding out from it. Or watching the star move around. I keep,an eye on Pegasus and Orion. When Orion shows up, we’re headed for winter.

Leah does not look happy. Is she just exhausted from the pandemic ordeal or getting tired of van life?

What are you to say?

Living on the road can be extremely exhausting at times and at this moment in time it's more difficult than usual. So yes, sometimes I am exhausted and at times I do feel tired of being on the move. I think it is normal to feel this, nothing is always perfect. I felt very happy at the river spot so if I don't look happy maybe it's just my face 😄
