Congratulations man, you deserve it! I fell so inspired from you as I'm doing CS50 as well, but the course is really tough and I have a full time job here in Brazil, so I kind lack of time and energy, but I'll not give up. I'm at week 7 right now, can't wait to change my career too. Let's keep going, hope some day I can tell my story here too! 😀

But now, CS50 2023 had a BIG upgrade with new sections between lesson and assessments, so you can improve your skills and learn more before taking the problems. Let’s keep going!

Oh my gosh it was such a relief to hear how long you took on some coursework material as I do too and I feel so stupid for taking so long. Everyone is saying it is hard yet they excel at it, so when I see an example that is closer to my experience it makes me feel so much more optimistic about being able to finish and understand better. Recently started watching your videos and honestly? Love your content. I've been dabbling with different courses on and off, done some Python, JS, HTML, CSS here and there and floated around. ButThanks to you, I'm doing the CS50 Python, which is a great refresher on Python Fundamentals and the teaching style is AMAZING! I too find so many of most challenges pretty tricky, especially the Harvard ones! But now after seeing this video, once I have completed this course, I'll 100% go onto the CS50x course for sure! Thanks for the inspiration bud, great to see your success, keep it up! =D

That last part hit hard. I've never had an interview where I wasn't offered there job. Not to tout my own horn but this is because i project a certain comfort level when speaking with people. I'm a breath of fresh air. I know this now because its me doing the hiring and i see the exact same thing. You can generally tell who is a decent human being and even if they lack skills vs another candidate you will automatically justify hitting them over the more qualified person who just seems a bit off.

I have watched several of your videos now because I want to transition to IT from a different career, so you’ve inspired me to look at CS50. There are only 10 weeks left of 2023 so I will wait January 1st 2024 to enroll in the class because I think, just like you, it will take me twenty weeks to finish it. No shame there ;) I want to do CS50P and CS50X after watching your videos and reading from other people, too. Best of luck to all of us 😊

Maybe you even have a video about this. If not - do this video. It's not a joke to take such responsibility without appropriate knowledge. I'm a self taughted c# developer. Started directly from .Net and c#. Got a job and have the same situation as you. It was hard and long way.

4:00 The way the industry is now, I generally don't listen to people tell me I cannot get a job based of a specific credential(s). Every employer is not the same; mainly now you just have to know how to market/sell yoursef. I hear too many stories where "unqualified" candidates get the job offers due to mastering social intelligence and/or business acumen and/or executive presence etc resulting in a cultural, environmental, professional, personal developmental fit among other things. Like you referenced in 7:35 - . 5:55 Saying something is really simple can be subjective, especially, if you're already familiar with it but I get from at least a software pro standpoint what you're saying. I find it rather interesting when I hear individuals finish a project, bootcamp, some form of education...without interacting with recruiters that the recruiters reach out to potential candidates. Is it A.I. cookies activating? Or Facebook prying into your personal info unbeknownst to us. What's with that? 🤨

Great analysis on what companies are looking for. Although limited in the number of jobs since graduating from high school over 40 years ago. I always asked my hiring manager why I was selected for the position, because HR will typically send them technically qualified candidates. Most recently the reason given was that it was my people skills and customer management capabilities that got me the job, not my technical skills.

Wow, this is good to hear! For me personally especially the honesty at the beginning. Now, I feel like it's not all that bad that I need double the time as well haha. For scratch the homework eventually took me a week, because I also have a job and basically, I was enjoying making the game so much at some point that I just kept adding to it. I'm in week 1 now and at the point of making the homework assignments. I had to watch the lectures up till now 2 or 3 times. and pause a lot to take notes.. Oh boy I opened up the first llama population assignment today and I was like: 👀??? Then I found the "section"- class and now I'm well on my way. I hope: lol! Thank you so much for being open and honest, you've really helped me to not feel bad about my slow pace. I mean I was expelled from school before I was 16 y/o and I have not had much of an education. But always regretted it. It's such a blessing we have the internet now a days where you can pretty much learn anything. Be well!

I think that it is mainstream of IT industry that now even on very senior trchnicl position they hire people with VERY little technikal skills. As a result that group produce a shit monster instead of application. Time of creation that application increases 20 times from normal for team with good trchnical Lead. They hire you because technikal skills means very little in order to get developer or team lead position.

Arghh, coders are such prima donnas, super smart but most are very immature.
