Aiming the feed tube into the wind would have got it cranking quicker. In fact the low pressure on the downwind side would tend to suck air out of the firebox in the early stage

You need a lid for the pan of water, so it'll boil quicker. Why get an efficient stove without using a lid?

I have the stove and the lid if he used the bigger pot is actually the sauce pan. Fold the handle in and it just sits on top

The name "Kombuis" means "kitchen" in Afrikaans (and I suppose in Dutch as well).
