Every time I see Komi's reaction to Tadano - "I'll help you find the other 99" - it's impossible not to tear up. Knowing that in that moment, that is the kindest, most generous thing Komi could ever hear. Like living with colorblindness for a lifetime and then glimpsing color for the first time.

i would recommend watching the fandubs instead of the netflix version. because netflix for some reason doesn’t translate important words that come up on screen well

You guys should know that Netflix employees did a superficial job translating,most of what's being written on the blackboard has not been translated. NovaWorks made correct translations for this in spite of them doing it for free.

Definitely recommend watching the fansubs instead of the Netflix subs since they don't translate everything written and I find them less detailed than the effort that goes into the fansubs.

This is a fun, wholesome series! I recommend watching "Kaguya-sama Love is War" if you haven't watched it already. It's also a fun and enjoyful show!

It's so good, but the fan subs that actually translate everything ESPECIALLY on the chalkboard during that scene makes it sooo much better, at least to me(Novaworks is doing them and doing a great job but considering you guys are reactors you probably cant wait, but if you have free time you should at least watch the first episode like that. I've already watched the first episode like 3-4x it's that good to me)

Yeah, with this show you HAVE to translate everything, since writing is one of the main forms of communication. Even outside of Komi's nonverbal communication, we missed a ton of Tadano's backstory and various thoughts he had that were in writing. I suppose in a certain way, this is a decent sub, but I consider it complete trash if it's going to ignore half of the written dialogue.

I don't know how much Japanese you know or can recognize, but if you pay attention to the various character names they often give hints at a character's central "trait". Like the term they use to describe Komi's communication disorder is "Comyusho" and her name is "Komi Shouko" basically the same sounding word split into two dropping the "u" in the middle and added the "-ko" suffix which is often used in cute/feminine names.

so, I'd been hearing a lot about how "fandubs are better, they actually translate the chalkboard writing" and so forth. I could see how it would be nice to read what they're writing. after all, they did that in the manga. however, I am also fine with this as an artistic choice. Does it matter so much that we can't read what's on the chalkboard so much as we know that Komi has made a legitimate connection with another person? Do we really need words to communicate what's going on? I think the imagery and the music do just as much work and the lack of translations don't really take away from the moment. Thoughts?

I mean fansubs also translate writings and bubble speech (which this anime has a lot) not to mention they don’t make stupid mistakes (like first line of najimi in Netflix subs translated as “so you wanna talk with your childhood friend mrs childhood friend”) like what is that? Just translate bubble speech that says that osana najimi is childhood friend

A quick note, The Netflix adaptation is not very good. The fan Dub is superior. I was shocked watching your reaction and seeing that Netflix did not bother to translate the chalkboard conversation. The fan dub has most of it translated. I've heard that Netflix also mistranslated some of the conversation as well.
