Even though i love Komi Can't Communicate to death this really makes me wonder why they don't pay more attention to what it feels like to actually be unable to make any friends. They play it for laughs and yes most of the time it works but imagine a scene of Komi actually breaking down because of how lonely she feels. I haven't read the whole manga so maybe there will be flashbacks to something like that in the future but for now i can only hope

I'm in chapter 107 or so, and i think the closest it got to a point like that, is in chapter 103, when they're making a schooltrip and Shoko tells Hitohito how lonenly she felt when in Elementary School they were going to Kyoto and no one wanted to be in the same group as her.

I always empathize with Komi but I always have to realize it's just fiction, and which makes it so is Komis popularity. Only from my experience: I've just changed high school because I couldn't make friends and fit in, the first thing was after I realized I was lonely, that I worked on myself, I tried to be helpful to my classmates, I tried to chat with them, I was interested who they are, but it was as if I was already considered the child who doesn't like people (but it wasn't true, I really wanted to have friends). But after I tried to bond with them they seemed they aren't really interested in me, if I asked them they told me about themselves, but they didn't ask me back, so it was a dead end. It looked like changing myself and coming out of my comfort zone wasn't helping so after several attempts to befriend people and 2 years later I changed school. I was hoping maybe if I change I'll get another chance, and I partly did, in the summer I prepared myself. I went to the new school with so much motivation, I changed my hairstyle, I changed my clothes to the most popular I could find (I was thinking maybe if I change my "cathegory" outwardly, then my social anxiety won't be that obvious) I thought maybe now they will ask back after I ask them, I started a new page (atleast I thought) but after my "new kid" Interest wore off, no one tried to know me better, I tried to befriend them but it wasn't happening. I just don't know what I am doing wrong or what I don't do, but I never thought I would experience loneliness. Back to Komi, I really like her, but I know that looking like a popular person, doesn't mean that someone even wants to be your friend at least thats what I experienced.

The story I imagined for this: Komi steps foot into Itan Private High School, everyone is stunned with her beauty. All people, men and women want to be either friends with her or wants to go out with her but thanks to her silent nature, everyone either decides to tell themselves that they have low standards to have a connection with her or gets intimidated and all they can do is admire and watch her from the distance. Komi meanwhile is looking for friends and dreams of having 100 friends in Itan High School. First day of the class has started and she gets all ready and all prepared. Everything goes smoothly with one exception, no one has come to her and make friends, by the end of the day, none had asked to be her friend, until one afternoon, a boy who was sitting beside her named "Tadano Hitohito" tried talking to her after hearing her say meow, after a while, they start to understand each other and they both have a nice conversation (idk if you still call this a conversation though) by writing on the blackboard. And by the end of the day, she now has one friend. The next morning, there was a news report of a death of a highschooler, his name was Tadano Hitohito and his body was found under a bridge, he was badly beaten with multiple stab wounds, the news speculated that this this was most likely an isolated case of a gang incident. As Komi watches this at her home, she gets shocked by this, as she was just sitting beside him and having a chat (on the blackboard) yesterday. Komi becomes very saddened by this and tries to live her school life, going back to square one. That day however wasn't the same, Komi noticed how her classmates seems to celebrate about their classmate's (or her friend's) death. Komi becomes scared by this and she gets filled with despair and grief, full of fear and sadness. Despite the new vacant seat beside her, none still sat next to her since they see themselves unworthy of having to sit beside her. A few days pass and a girl suddenly asks Komi san to meet her behind the school after class, wondering what it's about and still in denial having lost a friend, she does hoping that she will have another friend and goes behind the school after class she meets no one there, when suddenly a rag covers her mouth and nose and she becomes unconscious from this (Chloroform). She wakes up in a room full of her pictures and some body pillows with her face on it. A girl then says "Ah! You're finally awake~!", she looks up and sees Ren Yamai, she then explains on how she has her eyes on her and confesses on she loves her. Terrified, Komi tries to speak, but none comes from her mouth, Ren Yamai being delusional mistakes this for a "Yes" and squeals in joy and starts singing on how she has been accepted and that the day has come. Komi, horrified tries to escape the ropes but to no avail, Ren then proceeds to lock her into a basement and she explains on how it will be her new room since She mustn't escape her love den. A news report then reports about a missing high school girl named "Komi Shouko", this news brings chaos into Itan high school, with students fighting and blaming each other and blaming themselves for the "loss of their queen", Ren Yabai meanwhile, watches this in the corner of the room, with a happy grin on her face. Knowing where Komi is and what her current state is at the moment. Meanwhile, in the basement, Komi meanwhile, attempts to escape Yamai's basement to no avail, not knowing what time it is, she stops her attempts to escape every 5 minutes out of fear the Ren Yamai will suddenly appear. She moves a shelf and sees a small basement window hidden behind it (I know some basements have this, right?) she tries to escape through that, only to be stopped by Ren behind her, being in disbelief and shock that her "lover" (Quotation mark added since she isn't her lover) tried to escape from their relationship. Out of fury, she hits Komi's head with a brick that was on the shelf. Komi gets knocked out from this, instantly realizing what she's done, Ren quickly applies bandages to her head to stop the bleeding, the bleeding eventually stops but Komi is still unconscious, thinking that she's still alive, Ren sighs in relief when in reality, the shock from the brick gave Komi internal bleeding in her head and a temple fracture. Ren then leaves her in the basement (Love den doesn't suit the word I think?) leaving Komi to die from internal bleeding. Weeks pass and Komi's body starts to decompose in the basement, Ren still being delusional, hugs and sleeps the body every night, saying sweet nothings into the ear of Komi's body. The smell eventually becomes too strong that Ren Yamai's neighbors call the police to complain, when the police arrive, they knock on the door and no one answers, thinking that this is going to be a suicide case, they break down the door and follow the smell, only to find Komi's badly decomposing body with Ren hugging it in the basement. Ren sees the police and tries to attack them, she's not going to let them take her away from her love when she suddenly feels a sharp pain on her chest, she looks down and sees that the police had shot her on the chest out of fear and since she tried to attack them. Ren collapses and moans in pain as the police call for back up and forensics team to bag up the decomposing body. They later identify the body that belongs to Komi Shouko, the girl who was missing for almost 3 months. The news devastates the entirety of Itan High School and Komi's parents. The class the next day does a group suicide due to the loss of their "queen" (cultists and fanatics probably do this). While Komi's family mourn for her, her father kills himself out of depression, this devastates Komi's mother and becomes more depressed and suicidal, she starts drinking and taking drugs to cope with the loss of her husband and daughter. Komi's brother on the other hand, starts to hang out with the wrong people and gets killed by an unknown group. Rumors speculating that the family (or what's left of it) got into debt and the debt collectors took her son as a warning for the family (again, or what's left of it) to pay up, and other rumors stating that he made a son o a Yakuza angry which got him killed. If you made it this far then congratulations! Give bad ends a chance! Also, if this story is a bit sloppy and rushed, then I apologize for that since I have wake up early to do general cleaning around the house the entire day tomorrow. Edit 1: I made an alternative story route for Komi, it's the 51st comment. I find his/her work more terrifying than others because what happened in his story is actually happening in real life. And reality is often very terrifying

i really, really love komi but the whole "popular girl" thing seems extremely unrealistic.. i have really bad social anxiety and everyone in my school hates me. they think im weird and i have almost no friends. no matter how hard i try to be popular or pretty or social everyone thinks im weird which makes me really sad. i had a best friend but she doesnt talk to me a lot anymore. we disagree on a ton of thinks so i dont think she likes me anymore. i feel lonely because of it. shes the only irl friend that im close too. i have a lot of online friends but i wish i could see them in real life.
