Nothing in life is perfect, however, after leaving home for a brief time to serve in the military-what I learned from my travels across the country is that Washington was light years ahead of everyone…and this was in the 1990’s. So I came back home. Trump is threatening to enact a 60% tariff on China and 20% tariff on all foreign nations. Hundreds of thousands of people, or up to 20% of our states workforce rely on the import, and particularly EXPORT of goods. Remember, we pay the tariff (you cant tax a foreign nation...). Is the impoverishment and mass unemployment of our state not something to worry about? What about the fact that he's saying he'll mobilize national guards from other states, with the explicit intent of using them against OUR region? Do you really trust the feds? I'm an aquacultural farmer that's a local to Pacific County which is very rural. I and most other people I knew grew up in severe poverty. Crime, addiction, homelessness etc were all really bad here. The 90s to about 2015 did not treat us well. Our community was in heavy decline and there was zero hope here that we'd ever have a better life. I can confidently say that Inslee has not only done an exceptional job, but that him and his administration are responsible for saving our community. Poverty and unemployment have gone down rapidly since 2015, to levels that several generations have never seen. We have far higher wages, more benefits, and more labor rights. I've never stepped foot in King County. The furthest north I've been on the west side of the state is Tacoma. I'm not some city liberal, i'm a redneck that drives an old ford and goes out hunting.

Making corporations pay "their fair share," which inevitably gets counted as part of their costs for which they need to generate a profit margin, is what drives up costs for the rest of us. We need a congress to ban corporations from pawning off their tax burdens on the rest of us. We also need bans on corporate price gouging. Event then, centralized control over resources results in tyranny, and the cannabilistic market will always move in the direction of centralizing control over resources for the benefit of few at the ever increasing expense of everyone else.

If Trump institutes the 60% tariff on China, and 20% on all other countries, would that not be a significant issue for our state? 20% of our workforce either directly or indirectly relies on the export and import of goods. Push for state level electoral college in Washington. It’s ridiculous that Seattle and Olympia and a few other counties get to rule over Washington. A state level electoral college could change that this. No more cash left wing nonsense.

There are plenty of other states for you to move to if you don’t like the culture in this one. Although~in every state across the country the majority makes the decision through their vote who will lead and represent them. All states use popular vote to decide state elections.
