Great writer, yet he holds a lot of conservative American baggage that will not survive the death of the baby boomers. Free markets have proven to be detrimental to the people of a country, but he is absolutely right that the people that farm and provide for their own needs and are not dependent upon trade have a better chance of being good citizens and maintaining their own freedom and those were dependent on market which they cannot control. Everything he said about farming and going broke, only applies to markets not to homesteading so if you simply homestead to grow your own food and use markets intermittently to get money, do not depend on them and you’ll be in a better state. Capitalism is a population sink and a sham. You have body and brain drain the country side to make it work. When 1/2 the population lives in cities populations begin to fail.Morallity also is weakened by cities. Civilization seems to be a trick that lets elites enjoy the high life in cities or the high life of capitalism at the expence of others. Democracy and western values tend to undermind the predatory nature of capitalism and cities over time.I live in the city. Its great while it lasts.

@@jamesyarnall6728 I both respect, as well as clearly see the pragmatic logic behind the theological framework in that context. They go hand in hand and make perfect sense. Yet I suppose I should've used more precise terminology instead of just 'civilization' as you correctly raised. My intention was actually pretty literal, as in 'civil' or 'civilised', which in practicality, for me at least means the backbone of the Judeo-Christian framework and more specifically in relation to the core moral values - we're all created equal and in his image, the pursuit of peace, personal freedom, justice and happiness, tolerance, the rule of law, and very importantly - the sanctity of life. But most notably in context to the reality we currently face - the unconditional love of our creator which in turn, like a metaphysical spiritual on/off switch - automatically turns on the light of love towards each other as well as inwards with humility and grace. I hope this clarifies my initial intention with respect to my original post :)

Not everybody is collage material, we need to stop higher education from being a big business only looking at prestige and the bottom line taking government subsidiaries and just using it as a way increase revenue .. anyone notice that when the government gives more money to students higher education raises prices? It's no longer sending us the brightest and best but taking money for degrees that are basically useless ie; liberal arts, aka advanced basket weaving .. we need properly taught engineers, non - bias teachers, you know ..how it used to be, but with lower edit failing at the rate it is and students receiving the base education they are I don't see a reason in todays age for as many higher education out let's as there is,

Non-Americans are always surprised to find that the USA is NOT a "Nation" the way they assume. Each State has always been unique, with its own culture and law systems. WE LIKE IT THAT WAY. Each of our States has its own Constitution, its own Flag and its own Name. When I was in school, we were taught about the individual States and their main exports, their main industry, their culture -and even sometimes their local languages. And that was only 45 years ago. How things have changed. The more recent movement (last 30 years) of trying to make us all the same, with the same big box stores on every corner, is being rejected now. It was a very effective PR campaign--many young Americans have no idea that each state is a Free, seperate State. But hopefully the tide is turning and we will return to our original American system of Free, seperate States "federated" with a federal government system which is ONLY charged with defense of the federation, and mediation of interstate commerce.

My Drill Sergeant, nicknamed Brute, saw me returning from a sick call. I was strolling along. He took exception with that. He yelled at me and called me a bad name. It hurt my feelings and I scowled at him. He picked up a 12 pound river rock and shotput it at me from about 40 - 50 feet away. It took one bounce and hit me in the thigh. He said, “the next one gonna hurt, Trainee.” I said, “yes Drill Sergeant,” and began jogging toward the barracks. I wish all American 18 year old “boys” could have great memories like that. 🇺🇸😆

When i was in in the late 1990-early 2000 recruits were challenging drill sargents to fights and the DS’s were backing down. Did a detail were a drove around Gen Inge and three full birds. Inge seemed like a good guy, the younger col.’s showed me back then that the Army leadership was going down hill. Yes men and degenerates, all of them. I was disabused of my childish notions about class not existing in the US We are going to find out that not holding the line on Christian morality was our undoing! I dont think the US will exist by 2050 at the latest.The moving to conservatives states proceeds the brake up.

If you looking for history,just say: The Germans, the French and the English have caused two devastating world wars in just 20 years. The first killed about 20 million people. The second killed 60 million people. Then the U.S. joined them in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Panama, Chile, Guatemala, Al-Demenican … The list is long. After all this in the past and the present, some of the sackers come out for you and lecture about civilized & peaceful society.

He published the book about a year ago, and is worried about disarray in American leadership as well as inflation, lack of immigration law enforcement, civil unrest in 2020 and the present. Diminished prospects for the American middle-class is concerning. The main message I took away is that America shouldn't be complacent, e.g. we can't be in wars with China and Russia at the same time. Instead, we need to shore up the situation here at home.
