Hi Matt Cellitti - I just saw this video (thanks for putting it together btw). Yesterday I asked in a different vid you posted if you can control parameters of a hardware synth. I'm looking to control the macro's of a waldorf blofeld in the same way one would use it to control. (cutoff, env's, etc). If so, can the mappings be organized nicely like mappings can be using the control software and vst? Also, can all this be done in Logic Pro? *I feel like my articulation of what I'm asking isn't the best right now, so I hope what I wrote of my question makes sense*

+Matt Cellitti are the chord sets and arp printing to the DAW because your pointing an empty instance of Komplete Kontrol to the intrument track? because when i try this within the komplete kontrol software the midi info does not print (just the base notes do) into the DAW. they will in maschine though. The DAW in question is Studio One 3.

Romen Pheonixx Yes - there is a supplied Ableton .adg instrument called Komplete Kontrol VST. Simply load that from your user library destination and it loads an empty instance ready for browsing a Komplete instrument.

Does the komplete kontrol M32 will works in this same with hardware synths?

M32 does not have the midi out port that I believe is used in this video. Only in the more expensive S series models with the screens on the keyboards do you have a midi out port. That’s where the Arturia keystep, at 150 dollars, beats the M32. It has the port you want. But then you don’t get monark, reaktor, scarbee Mark i, maschine essentials and the 25 dollar evoucher. But you would get analog lab lite with the opportunity to upgrade to a more comprehensive version. I’m hella late with this comment lol hope it helps someone

I do not think these functions work on the Komplete Kontrol AU version only the VST version. If you load the AU version of Komplete Kontrol in Ableton Live and point it to another midi channel you can change the All Ins to Komplete Kontrol but you do not have the Komplete Kontrol option in the dropdown menu for the midi channels, you are only able to select Pre & Post FX.

Hey Matt, I understand this question is way general, but what would you say, in a nutshell, is the benefit to pairing a machine with the komplete kontrol, beyond just adding the beets? I'm interested in doing ambient and soundscape programming. Would the machine add anything to this? Do the knobs on the machine add parameters to what I set up on K.K.? When I look at something like Machine I thing hip-hop, dub, and whatever else breakbeats, which I'm not too interested in. BUT I'm looking to put together a system that give me tons of software control. Thanks for all your videos, too.

+ian baggett You have to make sure that "Remote" box is checked in the MIDI preferences for Ableton Live. Check that box on the INPUT sections of the Komplete Kontrol keyboards.

(: I checked on the NI site and there's a tutorial on how to make your KK a "natively recognized" controller in ableton But here's the thing: I saw in the "How to Make a Live Setup with KOMPLETE KONTROL" that u mapped some ableton native effects, like a filter and a compressor, then switchet to a "massive" rack with some controls mapped from the rack macros but…I didn't see the blue hand and this could only mean that u used a specific midi signal (CC or note) to map them. (probably switching between KK pages changes CC/notes (?) ) Did u do this only to have fast controls on live (using midi mode only) or u couldn't use the ableton automap?

+Nyroh I only used MIDI mapping for that example because I didn't need a whole bunch of parameters mapped. If I need more detail, I just reach for Maschine next to my KKS and use the Live template that has the "blue hand" focus per device as well as clip launching/mixing/record enabling etc etc.

+Nyroh No, there is a MIDI remote script for the KKS but it is limited to primarily transport control and bouncing between track focus. The remote script that NI made for Maschine is way more advanced and full featured.

+Ryan Pierson Yes but limited as a standard MIDI controller with note message and CC message. None of the Smart Play (arps, chords) features because that is a software function. All you have to do is unplug the USB and then send MIDI out from the keyboard to your gear

Komplete Kontrol software is just a Kontakt wrapper and the way it is developed sucks. The interface is like from WindowsXP era. This product is not really up to the task and certainly has to be completely redesigned. Super hard to read, and almost no customization. I have endless problems with loosing library connection, plugins not being recognized etc. Instead of working on the music I keep fixing problems every few weeks
