@@Matt-kl7qc Apparently KZbin added support for 1080p video around November 15, 2009. So this was only two weeks after that happened.

@xkonsentox Yeah, at Penn State we had 1 ITG2 Machine for about a year then it disappeared. We used to live in South Elgin between 1994-1998 and I remember there were a decent amount of arcades around there. I don't know if there still are anymore.
@gh0st-fox12 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's about what I was seeing too. It just looks like there's too much in the songs that go from being "hard but possible" to "just unfair", throwing in things that make no sense with that kind of speed. Thanks very much for answering my questions! :D

You are jumping to conclusions a bit there. in the groove came out when DDR EXTREME was still the newest game and there was no word on the next release yet. So of course all the players were going to go to the newly upgraded in the groove and in the groove 2 arcade machines because it was simply something new. It grew fast and more favored then DDR because it had cheap upgrades and nice dedicated cabinets, was more challenging at the time and had some good songs.
@TanThighsYum10 ай бұрын
Yeah and you could bring your own USB and really extend the song list. The few machines I played had a TON of songs, but a lot of those added ones were simply too hard with only 1 step file. Anyhow, ITG machines definitely had much better pads than DDR and of course more Settings which is always a plus.
@SegaFanatic518814 жыл бұрын
@xkonsentox Ah I didn't know that. Though there are absolutely no DDR Arcade machines near me, so the only experience I've had with Arcade versions are at amusement parks like Hershey Park so I've never really had much chance to notice something like that.
@omg_kon14 жыл бұрын
@SegaFanatic5188 That's okay. Sometimes DDR and ITG machines just are not that abundant. Illinois has a ton for some reason. Our local theme park (Six Flags Great America) had 5 DDR machines last season. A few seasons before that they had 6 DDR machines, 2 Pump It Up machines, 2 beatmania (HipHopMania) machines, a Percussion Freaks 5th Mix and a MTV Drumscape. 0_o That was wild!

I've been out of the loop for a few years, with my only venue being a DDR Extreme machine at a nearby arcade. However, I'm getting back into it, and I've heard a lot of people say that the newer "super-hard songs" (like Faxx and Pluto: Relinquish) have really bad stepcharts compared to the classic 10-footers of old. I can kind of see it, but I wanted to get the opinion of someone that played them regularly, as I'm still working up to that level. Do you agree? If so, what makes them worse?
@ZakairSevenfold12 жыл бұрын
@schindelerium That's one of the things that made DDR so great in the early days, the fastest songs were the "big boss songs" like Max 300/Unlimited/Legend of... They were hard and looked harder, but they were possible and realistic. The new songs like fascination maxx, Pluto Relinquish, and other songs like 888 are just I enjoyable because they are way too fast, and they are simply bothersome. I like playing songs that keep a food beat and are fun to dance to, not extremely hard and tiring.

Afaik it can only be played on Boss Rush Episode IV, a course on SuperNOVA. From SuperNOVA 2 onwards the Challenge chart is available in normal play.
@omg_kon12 жыл бұрын
ALSO, it wouldn't have put "DDR out of business". DDR is not a business, KONAMI is, and the American arcade business is so tiny that it really would not have affected them at all. Especially since production and distribution of the game was handled by Betson. Also who knows if it would have "killed DDR in the states". Konami filed a lawsuit after BoXoR infringed KONAMI's patent for using hardware on their arcade machines.
@omg_kon13 жыл бұрын
@ddrkingjb Its only on SuperNOVA, SuperNOVA 2, X and X2. On SuperNOVA you need to earn it by AAing your final stage song with a AA or AAA.
@DirtyRottenTyler12 жыл бұрын
all though that may be true, you cant argue that itg would have put ddr out of business if they had not sued them because itg grew faster in popularity then ddr did. But the factor that much of the older players of ddr did switch over to itg because beginner players were unfamiliar with the way itg is layed out.

@SegaFanatic5188 The timing windows on the home versions are made more open when they are made making scores easier to get. Arcade AAA's can be extremely difficult to achieve because the window is so much smaller.

@LegendKillerO2Jammer Its just my personal preference. Sometimes double stepping will save your stamina, but you loose your accuracy. Sometimes its the other way around, and sometimes it just is not possible to double step.

The game was getting over-shadowed in difficulty by other bemani titles as well as DDR's competition. It was really saddening to see that the difficulty never exceeded a certain point and then finally Konami delivered. I think it is and was a welcome addition to the game and finally gave players a chance to really improve and challenge themselves.

@MISSsuperstarrr What? How is the home version any different from the Arcade to make it not count. If anything it's HARDER to get a AAA on the home version since the quality of pads ranges from close to arcade quality to absolute shit. It's not like the step charts are dumbed down or anything. It's the exact same engine playing the exact same game using the exact same songs and stepcharts from the Arcade version. The only difference is you don't have to pay $1 a song to play at home.

Hey Kon, I'm curious. Isn't all of DDR copyrighted music? How has your channel not been removed by KZbin?
@omg_kon10 жыл бұрын
Two things: 1 - Typically only the licenses contain copyright. 2 - I am uploading gameplay that follows the community guidelines. If a copyright warning comes up it also typically can get cleared and published onto KZbin as its all part of gameplay. If any issues do come up my Partnership higher ups will take care of it.
@Ganulous10 жыл бұрын
So if someone had a video of just the song, then that would be copyright infringement?
@omg_kon10 жыл бұрын
Typically yes. That is especially true if someone is making money on the video as well.

in the groove lost all its fun. The community is honestly barely staying alive and any effort put towards "reviving it" are immediately put to rest. DDR is awesome, its officially supported, still has a large audience in Asia and the best part is the community surrounding it is amazing and Konami and its artists even support the community. Also in the groove would have never existed if DDR wasn't even made. So if "DDR sucks" then "in the groove sucks" because its based on the DDR series.
@omg_kon11 жыл бұрын
No, I did not.
@omg_kon12 жыл бұрын
Well sure in America you might be right. If you are talking worldwide, HELL NO. I still fail to see the point that you are trying to make here. Both games are fine, its just a matter of opinion. Each game is equally as difficult had both have a different audience. in the groove isn't really in the groove anymore though, its what hackers make out of it now.
@omg_kon14 жыл бұрын
@MISSsuperstarrr Notice how I dont give a shit? Also notice how much more people watch my videos then yours? Notice I do count arcade AAA's and have a name on both websites? Get out of here kid.
@omg_kon12 жыл бұрын
in the groove is boring. Nothing is official anymore and everyone in that community is a bunch of assholes. Who cares if you can play custom songs, that doesn't make the game any better.
@omg_kon12 жыл бұрын
Compared to classic boss songs, ya they are pretty bad. One of the reasons why is because they are filled with very stupid gimmicks. It makes in nearly impossible to AAA and just takes away the fun. Also Faxx has some really stupid crossovers in the chart, which is rather dumb as the sections that has the crossovers are the 400 BPM runs. Relinquish is dumb for the gimmicks and last stream. I probably have only full combo'd it twice.
