I 100% feel where that 1 star review is coming from! Since I found you guys back in November 23, just a couple months ago. I have been binge watching/listening nonstop. I have gone through all of the pod of greeds and am about to start over. I listen at work and enjoy every minute of it. The diverse topics you guys cover are right up my alley and I have stopped listening to other podcasts of other interests😂

My locals is pretty driven by the main 3, Magic, Yugioh & Pokemon. Pokemon has their tournaments on Friday, and sometimes early on Saturdays for bigger events. From what I've heard, the crowd isnt as consistent as Magic or Yugioh, but people there do buy a lot of singles + packs/trainer kits (I think thats the name for the starter boxes with packs in them) for that TCG. For MTG, I don't know what format they play, but our shop does have singles, newer sets, and etc. Their events are on Thursdays & Sundays, and I am able to say that the crowd for the game on Thursdays is a good size for it being a Thursday (tables almost filled, we have 54 seats to fit people in). As for Yugioh, this crowd (including me) is very consistent with 16+ people showing up every Saturday for it. We even have some kids that come in to play with us with their parents, who also play, and we recently got 4 new people to join us in the last 3 months. As for sets and everything, we often get every set that Konami releases, but structure decks arent as plentiful due to our store usually getting them a week or two after their actual release. So they decided to get less copies of each SD, since a majority of people who want it will have bought it at a retail store beforehand. As for other card games, they discontinued the Digimon & Dragonball card games, because people stopped showing up for them, and product just stays on shelves collecting dust, sadly. BUT...me and 7 others recently got the shop to ask Bandai about being able to start One Piece events for us, because a good amount of people go to another shop thats 45 mins away just to play One Piece on Fridays. This was also flagshipped by mainly Yugioh players, which is great, because now the shop is gonna be doing One Piece events on the same day as Yugioh for us. Our first One Piece locals being Saturday is definitely gonna be a treat, because a lot of the Yugioh players wanna see how the game works, and possibly invest on it if it becomes fun for them. I already know at least 8 of us will be consistent there for it, and there is the possibility of others from other card games joining in as well. As for product for One Peice though, our store will cosnsitently run out of One Piece product after 2-3 weeks of it being released. So its really tough to find stuff there, because lots of people buy it. The only thing not bought is like 2 copies of a random Yellow Yamato Structure Deck lol. (Sorry for this being long, enjoying the content though 👍)

Ironic how you guys were talking about the metazoo prize rewards when the big controversy before the game shut down was they didn't pay out a 40k prize pool for a tournament in September. The metazoo drama is actually insane, embellzelement is highly likely, and there are rumors circulating that bandai is interested in buying the IP.

when you guys talked about having someone sit next to you outside the camera during remote duels it reminded me of when me and my friends would do that during our finals in college where everything was on zoom. we would read the questions out loud like we were thinking about them and then i would google the answer and write it and put it on their lap

My locals is mainly MTG they have 4 tournaments in 5 days and Wednesdays are Commander AND Modern. Saturday is YGO then slight overlap with MTG (I forget which format) also they've been doing Lorcana tournaments on Fridays alongside MTG as well. But they do have 35 ygo players two weeks ago and it has been growing from what I was told. One of the owners specifically told me to not get into MetaZoo for many reasons and I'm glad I listened to him

For the card shop I used to go to in Dublin, Ireland, here’s the weekly event schedule and rough attendance: Monday: MTG pioneer format (10-16 players) Tuesday: MTG modern format (never attended myself but from glancing in when waking by I think roughly 20-30 players) Wednesday: Wargaming (not sure if classical wargaming or warhammer, no idea of attendance) Thursday: YGO (15-30 players, this was semi officially the “more competitive” YGO event) Friday: MTG commander (30+ players, potentially up to 50, always looks packed) Saturday: MTG draft (5-10 players) and Digimon locals (no idea of attendance) Sunday: YGO (20-50 players, semi officially the “more casual” event). Sometimes also YGO goat format in the evening. Weekends were taken over entirely for MTG for pre release events for new sets (all other events canceled, attendance very high). I also know they tried to run events for MtG standard but no one came. Have recently moved to Belfast in Northern Ireland so still getting to know the local card game shops but they seem to have a similar split (so most days MTG with a different format each day , then a few YGO days, then the occasional event for other card games)

My locals primarily hosts events for Cardfight! Vanguard, One Piece, and digimon. They also sell magic products but don't really host any events since the only people buying are the same small group of commander players. I believe they also carry shadowverse evolve but we haven't had any events go off since since the initial wave.

For the One Piece nationals at the Bandai Card fest: It was poorly ran. players who topped in regionals were supposed to have a 2 round Bye, but they were accidentally paired up with people round 1. The players needed to be removed from the tournament which caused the entire 2500 player roster to be deleted. Tournament started about 3-4 hours late. The tournament App could not handle all the traffic and there were various player issues. there were about 3-4 re-pairs which caused more delays. They did not play out all 11 rounds of the tournament because everyone got kicked out of the venue at midnight which caused a lot of top players to miss top cut due to wonky match making math. For one piece product, they underestimated how many people would be there, so they went from selling 1 booster box per person to shrinking it down to 5 booster packs per person. There were some spectator and side events which could not handle the number of people. Side events sold out in seconds and the spectator scavenger hunt caused multiple hours long lines.

The two closest shops I would say are definitely more Yugioh/Pokemon centric, but they have tourneys for all the big TCGs and some smaller ones too. I’ve also got a shop with a HUGE magic fanbase where that’s mostly what they play along with lorcana.

About the whole anxiety at tournaments/locals thing. I personally get it alot, at my last local, i literally was so anxious that i forgot what branded lost did 3 times in a row, which lost me a round. I often shake, stumble over my words, and once ive had to scoop a match. It for me gets better when i know the person who im playing against, and when we can joke throughout the match. Sadly i think the only real way to make it better, is to work on your overall mental health. There isnt really one tip that makes everything go away

At my local card shop (which is very small btw) there is a weekly yugioh tournament only. They sell mostly Magic cards but have no formal magic tournaments. But they're open every day and people usually drop in to play casual magic or yugioh.

In my main shop I think all week is dedicated to card game tournaments. Monday one piece, Tuesday yugioh, Thursday digimon, friday may be pokemon but im not confident, and sunday is vanguard. Idk for sure, but Wed and Sat may both be Magic(idk if it's different formats). The most popular that I know of are one piece, yugioh, and magic. Digimon has slowly been shrinking at my shop sadly. Still a dedicated 8-12 players every week.

My main LGS: Pokémon: Monday/Saturday Flesh and Blood: Monday (Classic Constructed), Thursday (Blitz) ONE PIECE: Monday/Friday MTG: Tuesday/Saturday (Commander), Wednesday (Modern and Draft), Thursday (Legacy), Friday (Standard) Vanguard: Wednesday Yugioh: Thursday/Sunday Digimon: Thursday Lorcana: Friday Weiss Schwarz: Sunday MTG is definitely the most popular TCG at my LGS. Pokémon is probably second, which is unsurprisingly basically the only time I see kids (preteens and younger) there. I’m mainly only there on Mondays and Thursdays for Flesh and Blood, but whenever I’m there on other days there’s always people playing Yugioh and ONE PIECE as well.

I agree with the marvel sentiment. I think it was a huge mistake labeling the next collection of phases, let alone using "multiverse". They rushed right into trying to recreate the next thanos and infinity war. Quantumania flopped and it's pretty tiring how much they keep talking about the snap still.

It's always so weird to me to see people scared of horror games, because I just don't get how it's possible. The last time I remember being scared of a game was when I was a kid and the BOX for Resident Evil 1 scared me since the guy on the original cover creeped me out for some reason. When I realized I wasn't ever scared of the game was when I played Amnesia and I was being chased by some invisible thing and thought "I really hope I don't die, because I don't want to lose progress".
@benjaminmuratore9341
@benjaminmuratore9341 9 ай бұрын
I disagree, and I think finding it weird that people get scared playing horror games, is a little weird in of itself. Atmosphere, sound design, visuals, themes, and overall message can be what makes something scary. None of that goes away solely because it's a video game. Those same examples can be used to bring out a variety of other emotions when playing games, such as joy, sadness, empathy, frustration, and anxiety. So what's so strange and impossible sounding about someone feeling scared?

Hey guys on the Digimon side of things it was confirmed that the west will get simultaneous release with Japan starting with Bt20 in 2025. To catch up it seems like Bt18 and 19 will be combined into one set. Also Bt17 will be a Liberators themed set which should be pretty cool. A friend also told me that reprints of One Piece TCGs first few sets have been announced but take this with a grain of salt since I haven't confirmed it myself, although I have seen a bunch of salty tcg fincance bros shitting on the idea so I thought it might be true. I agree with Alec though finding news for Bandai TCGs seems more difficult than it should be and I wish they marketed it more, especially for Digimon.

I remember seeing dragon ball super cards everywhere in Japan. I don’t think that’s going anywhere because of that. Oh our (in Melbourne, Australia) locals, MtG is comfortably the biggest and has 4 nights a week (different formats true). Yugioh is second with two nights a week (one is split Edison and modern), everyone else gets one but Pokémon and one piece get more players than the others. Flesh and Blood and digimon are the others that get regular locals, not sure about the player numbers though.

Master Duel needs to ban Maxx C. Everyone and their mother is running it. It's hysterical how people claim Pot Of Greed would break Yugioh when Maxx C is literally Pot Of Greed on crack. I'd rather have everyone be able to run 1 copy of Pot Of Greed than having Maxx C unbanned and at multiple copies.

IT EVEN HAS A REALLY COOL JROCK THEME SONG THAT BLASTS IN THE DEFUALT GAMES START MENU. IT'S DIRECTED BY THE GUY THAT DIRECTED DMC 3, 4, AND 5. It's pretty fun but it's closer to a combination of DMC/Darksouls than a regular JRPG.
