I'm with you on this one, I personally preferred KKR over Super Circuit. KKR just felt more creative and "fun" for a lack of better term. Glad to have this one in my collection.

Been loving your stuff ever since I found your channel a month or so ago. I was an SNES kid myself. Just bought an old SNES recently and Faceball 2000. That game sucks but I have some nostalgia for it.

I remember playing as Pastel in this game because I was playing some TwinBee games on PSP at the time. This game was released in Japan first as Konami Wai Wai Racing Advance (related to the Famicom Wai Wai World games). This game is the first appearance outside Japan of Pawapuro-kun before the Power Pro franchise came to America as MLB Power Pros.

A guy I knew imported the GBA before it's NA release. This was one of the games he had with it. I remember at the time having my mind blown that you could have SNES level graphics on a handheld! Great memories, and great video as usual.

I think every developer has done a Mario Kart clone at some stage. I do really like Konami Krazy Racers but my favourite clone by far is Chocobo Racing for the PS1.

I adore Chocobo Racing! I’m not a huge fan of the genre, but Mario Kart was something special and meshing Square characters into the mold was alright in my book.

@@7thangelad586 It was the same for me I played Chocobo Racing simply because of Final Fantasy also. The PS1 introduced me to those games and the most appealing thing about it was the fact it's one huge tribute to the series from the courses, characters to the amazing remixed soundtrack. It is a real shame a they never made a follow up.

The art style is far more preferable to me than the GBA version of Mario Kart. Plus, I love all the Konami stuff. I have a greater fondness for many of these characters and musical renditions than all the Mario stuff. Definitely a hidden gem.

I find it kind of funny Konami choose to release this game in the U.S. when some of the characters represented here at the time, had games that didn't get released in the U.S. (Twinbee series and only 1 game really) or had games that didn't get an official U.S. release but their games were imported by certain people (Pop N Music series, which only a few arcades in the U.S. had)

Indeed If Konami had made the following game characters available. It would have given some incentive to unlock the secret characters. However all of the characters you can unlock are very lame in my humble opinion. I play this game for the base character sprites, the music and last but not least the racing tracks. And since owning this game I never been tempted to unlock the crappy hidden characters lol 🔓💯😐.

I love this game. I always consider it and Diddy Kong Racing as unofficial Gaiden to the Mario Kart games since they look, feel, and play so much like the MK games. (And that's not an insult, that's a compliment.)

I loved Krazy Racers when it came out, but I always wished at least one of the GBA Belmonts was in it, and not just Dracula. After all, Gradius gets 2 mascots, but Castlevania gets only the villain?

Do you mean it was a US launch title? as I got the GBA on it's Japanese launch and all that was available was F-Zero and that remake of Super Mario 2.

The Wikipedia page lists it as releasing at launch in both Western and Japanese regions. But I'm with you in not remembering it at all. I suspect it was a very low-volume release. Looks like a great game, though. Very reminiscent of Battle Racers on the SFC.

I got this the day it came out. what a terrific game it was. when mario kart was released then it felt slow and the controls sucked compared to this at the time. They need a proper sequel to this. not the android one. there was some great ideas here

One thing I noticed about this game is that they included very few protagonists, there's only Goemon, Pawapuro and Vic Viper, and even this last one is unlockable, everyone else is either player 2 or an enemy/NPC in the original series...

I found out about this game on a whim, gave it a shot and well, it's pretty good! I still prefer Mario Kart Super Circuit, that's actually my favourite in the series after all, I love that game a whole lot, but Konami Krazy Racers is a pretty good companion piece to that game! I just wish they used the GBA direct audio in the soundtrack, they just stuck to GB chiptunes for its music and only used the direct audio for like, sound effects and voice samples...
