Konami Surprised Me! GetsuFumaDen Undying Moon Honest Review

I played and finished the original Getsufumaden on the Nintendo Famicom over 30 years ago. The game was easily one of Konami's best IP in the 80s. It was odd it never got a sequel until 33 years later. Though it was mostly a side scrolling platformer game it changes to a third person perspective when you enter of the 3 labyrinths.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago and although it's kind of tough, it's a fun tough. I'm making slow progress and it's actually kind of clever how the difficulty curve is. It beats you over the head with it and cinematically shows that Fuma has a lot of work to do, but as you get better, Fuma gets stronger and he blows through demons with ease. And I've only passed three areas so far.

HOW DID YOU WIN?! I make it far, get killed and start all the way from the beginning. Is there a way to save as you progress through the game? Tired of starting over from stage 1 when I make it far

@@pistanthrophobiamisanthrop4953 you have to keep upgrading things after you beat a boss. You can Unlock weapon upgrades, unlocking is permanent. Also you can do two other upgrades, I recommend increasing Vitality and Max Potions. All of these upgrades happen with the white witch after beating a boss. You can also unlock upgrades allowing you to keep some materials after you die, but I think the best thing is to upgrade after beating each boss. But upgrade wisely

So I defeated the first boss (Giant skeleton) and the second boss, (Centipede). Then I made is to the next level, got defeated and had to start all over again. Didn't know anything about upgrading. I thought that you just go through the portals and everything will take care of itself 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@pistanthrophobiamisanthrop4953 Quite the opposite! You have to upgrade after the bosses, especially with the white witch (the woman on the Left), those upgrades are permanent, and are the only permanent upgrades.

I really enjoyed Hollow Knight so a difficult metroidvania isn't the problem for me. What was the issue was getting stuck in a region and finding no way out, even with a video guide, so I had to restart. Didn't go anywhere near Deep Nest again until I had better exploration abilities and three ways out.

This has to be the most confusing thing I have ever seen konami do. they hand an ip for a game franchise that was trademarked almost 40 years ago thats mostly unknown to anyone outside of japan or who played castlevania hd to an indie developer who only worked on this game and then people who do somewhat recognize it (castlevania fans?) can't even tell if its a sequel or a remake and then they turned it into a rouge like (one of my least favorite genres). The nes game was a fun time but im sorry i wont play this game. I could be wrong but this game looks like a repurposed mobile game and looks like a pretty uninspired and dull time.

@@Gotiansgames very sorry if im being a scumbag there. The controls, map and layout here on getsu are 100% straight up copy from dead cells. One can argue somehow the itemizations too. Its like dead cells slapped on a getsu skin. Hades and castlevania along with hollow knight are masterpieces of this kind of genre. It would be sad if you havent played dead cells. You are really missing alot. Nevertheless, this game looks okey. Probably when its at least 50%. Wallet broke already on this months sale.

@@kenk5269 , no, you are not, and Dead Cells is honestly one of the best Metroidvanias in the sub-genre of games. Also, Getsufumaden was a prototype for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night WAY more than Castlevania II: Simon's Quest EVER was, so give this f u c k i n g game some f u c k i n g respect, as it is a d a m n good effort by a first time video game developer company (GuruGuru)!
