KONE TMS Mod by KONE Lift @ Eldon Garden MSCP, Newcastle

Seems to have got worse since my last visit, the phone is making a racket now along with a worsening in ride quality.

Update on this lift i think its completely gave up as its been sat broken for days now its been switched off i assume kone are most likely gonna do loads of work on it or modenize again idk ill update if anything else has happened

I went to it yesterday its still just about works its but it has some issues it was shaking everytime it was moving and aswell as banging 6 this lift honestly needs help

@@NE23_Media I know it emergency stopped on someone due to knocking a roller recently. I do love those door motors on it though.

@konemseries12 it's one of the best features on this lift I think time starting to run out on this lift now kone maintains all the council owned lifts the Dean street double door one has had its buttons replaced and loads of work done so I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets modded or replaced

@@NE23_Media So the council have gone back to KONE after RJ were proven to be a bit useless.

@konemseries12 yeah they have now switched after a number of complaints with maintenance from rj I seen a kone lift engineer working on the dean street ones I think rj felt they couldn't maintain them anymore so that's basically left kone to sort through the lift with ongoing issues

This lift has been in rough condition for most of its life. Strange part with the slash like part with the 9. Nice Kone TMS door sound of course! Never seen that upwards/downwards scroll on a Kone display like that before! Does this lift use the half floor system? Nice ADO too, very short though.

Well this lift has been sat broken for days so I think it's gave up now I know kone does now maintain so what's most likely gonna happen is either mod or loads of work done to it

Love that it still has the original door motor - also some of the actual motor sounds are great! 🙂 Maintenance is everything though - it needs a full KONE service I reckon but shouldn’t need to be modernised. Would’ve been better if they didn’t mod it in the first place…

@@EscalatorsAnywhere sounds similar to some I remember locally 🤔🤔🤔. I believe KONE have the contract again but it did emergency stop after knocking the door roller on a landing when someone I know filmed it recently. I do find the Chantry Place Otis 2000s seem good being maintained by KONE but the Frasers ones are knackered thanks to Paragon so that says it all, contractor is everything. If you go to Newcastle this lift is well worth trying to film if it is working.

@@konemseries12 Yes those sounds are very familiar! Found a few good ones on a recent trip to Finland too and the ones in the Prague TV Tower were also good but used an extra high speed motor with different sounds! I do love a lift with character and even emergency stopping by itself adds to the fun. 👍 I know we both really like Kone TMS - did you ever see the old one at Monument Mall in Newcastle. Was such a shame that place was trashed years ago when they redeveloped it but originally it had a TMS with the Otis series 1 style panel (mod by Kone with KSS later) and some gold O&K RTK-KBS escalators with customised landing plates bearing the Mall’s name in brass lettering! So gutting they’re gone but you can still find old stock photos.

@@konemseries12 Have a look online for old images of the place. You can find them if you look on the right archives and sites 🙂 I remember castle mall well too. They had 3 different types of panel top - the car park lifts had underlined arrows, the glass lifts 989667 and 8 had the dashed arrows and some of the service lifts (not all) had the white plastic arrows like one at Hammersmith Bus station 👍

@@konemseries12 Me too. I will find some old pictures of those lifts soon when I get round to it! The car park lifts had a different panel top to the glass lifts 989667 and 8 - the car park ones had the underlined arrows whereas the glass ones had the 3 striped arrows. Also the panels were a different height and engraving font. 🙂 I still want to get to Boscombe soon - those used the striped arrows like the glass lifts but the panel surround was in a silver paint rather than black. Same as at Dingles (HOF) in Plymouth and Green Lanes Mall MSCP in Barnstaple - also in the South West. All of those lifts are now modded by generics and the panels unfortunately gone…
