What a good idea! An impactful way of recording a place and way of life that could soon become “ in those days we . . . “ It could in future become a good source of reference for scholars studying traditional villages. I loved that sweeping shots of the roofs of the agrahaaram (?). All houses are connected, rooftop to rooftop, ‘thittu to thittu”. Modern urban architecture encourages and establishes disconnectedness, isolation, lack of trust, even envy, among the community, with its compound walls, high gates, ‘Beware of dog’, signs, watchmen at the gates, visitors books to sign, etc. Architects in India of today have lost their integrity to this land and culture. So their architecture is ugly and disruptive. Indian urbania as it is today is something I hope will get erased without a trace, so that our future generations may not be deeply ashamed of their rootless, thoughtless, tasteless ancestors.
