As Liu Bei, I am always pleased when Kong Rong expands into Dong (commandery). His long Dong territory shields me from the creepy old vassalizer Yuan Shao.

Well I have find that yuan shao isn't much of a problem just built and upgrade the garrison building in dong (just in case) also dong should be your only city by the river in early game again just in case and that's about it really destroy Cao Cao (good chances that xiahu dun will join you ) and then declare war on yuan shao and get over with p.s. yuan shao usually takes a while to come at you even if he declares war because he tends to declare on pretty much half of the northern factions the same can be said about his vassalising p.s.2 I heard that vassalising is all about food so make sure you produce tons of it

@@kaungsi5613 well shit last 2 pieces of advice when playing as liu bei against yuan shao the moment he makes his first vassal attack and either kill him vassalise him or vassalise and then annex him also when it comes to huang shao(yellow turban guy) just take dong and then make peace also do not attack liu dai with those 2 factions along with Kong rong and every other faction in the north yuan shao will be too preoccupied with wars to make any vassals for some time keep in mind that all my advices come from me playing on easy and medium difficulty I have no idea how different thing are on hard , very hard or legendary

Its ironic in a sense, because Confucius and his ideals were also persecuted for a time in China, since they basically preached against corrupt and decadent government. So in a way, the ancestor of Confucius meet a very similar ending to his predecessor. Persecuted and murdered during his life, only to become an idealistic figure afterwards.

kong rong has no vision, other than pursuit of his own idealism. ( he doesn't care about your ambition to rise and thrive in this world, he only want to do what's right (according to him) ) Everyone could see he's not worth following. Worth helping, yes. But not worth following. Even Taishi Ci leaves once his business is done, even to him Kong Rong is not a worthy leader. Think of Kong Rong as the absolute straight A+ student in your school absolutely the smartest guy and the person teacher loves for his great attitude, ethics and obedience... but everyone else just keep friendly distance from him... People may come to him if they need help, but otherwise... honestly they'd rather have nothing to do with him. The story would be different had Kong Rong been blessed with great martial arts prowess, being a badass warrior. He could had been a lone unstoppable free warrior helping people here and there, like a wuxia hero. Unfortunately he's not. And this was the era of blades, not internet.

The "creator of Taoism" - depends on which sect you're talking about. If you're talking about Lao Tzu himself, there are no prominent Li's at the time. As for Taoist leaders...well, the entire Yellow Turban faction are. And then there's Zhang Lu, 3rd Celestial Master of the Zhengyi Sect in Hanzhong...but at the start of the game for some reason it's someone else. The FLAG reads Zhang, though.

According to the story, Li Ying was a descendant of Li Er 李耳, another name traditionally ascribed to Laozi, the "founder" of Daoism. In Chinese, the family name comes first, in the case of both Li Ying and Li Er, 李. Confucius' name in Chinese was Kong Qiu 孔丘, but he was more commonly called Kong Fuzi 孔夫子. When Latinized, Kong Fuzi becomes "Confucius". Here again, the clue is found in the family name Kong 孔 in both Kong Qiu and Kong Rong.

I always feel as if I'm playing sub-optimally whenever I'm playing conventionally, my favourite campaign so far was rushing Chang'an as Liu Bei and roleplaying as a loyal Prime Minister. Maybe a "loyal" Kong Rong could be similarly interesting, not expanding outside of Qing province and remaining loyal to the Han until the Three Kingdoms era.
