Okay, but seriously: The way I remember it (and I could be wrong) the whole “Monsterverse” concept was kept under wraps when this movie came out, or at least it was kept out of the ads, which made the post-credits scene go so much harder. It was like, “oh, you thought you were just watching some fun one-off movie… well surprise! Shared universe, baby!”

Note: The old guy did not show up for no reason. John C. Reiley's character is the the young soldier fighting in the beginning of the movie, when we first meet Kong. He and the young Japanese soldier become the best of friends, and his role was integral in getting them back home. Great reaction as always. 👍👍🔥🔥

JL, I confess. I'm a white woman who pets every animal I see...dog, cat, bird, horse, cow etc. A lifetime of animal rescues & I've never been bitten (although a Pomeranian with fear aggression almost got me). I know when I can swoop down upon them with hugs & affection & when to exercise caution. And I feel blessed to have a knack for getting the most terrified to trust me when everyone else has given up on them. Two-sided sword though. It can be beautiful or sometimes a heartbreaking situation. But I'm glad I've always had that immediate reaction to all animals. I love them all. Some of my favorites: Leviathan, of unknown origin, firstborn(has young Corey Haim, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Robert Downy Jr.) And maybe more suited for the cocaine cabinet, Naked Lunch (based on the novel by William S Burroughs and written and directed by David Cronenberg... nuff said;p) and Buckaroo banzai across the 8th dimension (also features Jeff Goldblum) I come in peace (released under the alternative title Dark Angel) 90's action sci fi featuring Dolph Lundgren( Rocky IV) Hunch back of Notre-dame, Pocahontas, Wreck it Ralph. Think he'd have fun with these.

In my opinion, Kong: Skull Island is the best actual movie of the Legendary Monsterverse to date. Is it my favorite? No, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is my favorite, but I personally argue Skull Island not only is the best actual film of the series, but also has the strongest human story. All of the movies are enjoyable and live up the fun I remember from the kaiju movies I grew up with. I look forward to the reactions of the remainder of the series because they are all great in their own way.
