Not many people realize this but Suko was setting Kong up to be eaten by the drownviper. If you see Sukos mannerisms he knows what’s in that lake and is watching for when the time is right to run and leave Kong. But Kong lets it slide not only because Suko is a kid but because Kong wants to bond with one of his own kind.
