I have one - It is ok - but not a pimple on the butt of the Big Six Big Six has great feel and volume- I use both the folk and regular tuned versions in C , bcause they have wooden combs and can be had for about $30 THe other keys seem to have plastic combs at twice the price Do you have Seydel in a can ? lol, yes, him and Prince Albert. The Big Six is just missing that 7th hole that I use a lot, but other than that, yeah.

Hi Tyler. Thanks for your interest, but, no.... Like I said in the vid, the Seydel, for me, is hampered by the lack of the 7 hole, which I use a lot. Sight unseen, that puts the Baby Fat ahead in my book. Plus, I don't like Seydels in general - too expensive for a simple man like me!

Tim, do you mind if I ask you what your recording setup is? You're a fair distance from whatever mic you're using, yet the harp playing still comes through beautifully. I'd like to use whatever that is myself.

Hi Faethe - well, I'd like to say it's something special, but the truth is most of these were recorded just using my phone camera in selfie mode. It's a Samsung Galaxy Something Something (lol - my kids would know). One of my sons has a fancy USB mic that I use if I want things to sound *really* nice and/or need to add post-production effects like reverb. That's what I used here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKWxon2Ifc51oc0 but offhand I couldn't tell you make/model of that, either. Harp mics, I know. Regular mics, not so much. Cheers!

That's a really good question. I don't use holders, so can't test it, but it's an odd and short shape that could potentially cause some problems.

Made two 7 hole in late 1980 , Osage orange body whit pastil tin can cowers ( Terva Leijona ) , I give Terva Leijona harp Bredan Haynes , he is street didgeriduu players . But I don't like anymore play harp , its bending too much notes , Gecko 8 notes mini kalimba is the best for my soul🧜🧚🌺

Seven holes seems an odd marketing choice. Seems limiting.

Yeah, it's a gimmick - Seydel has one with only six holes. The Kongsheng at least comes in cute colors, but yeah, these things are novelties. That said, there are a LOT of players that a) don't venture above hole 6 anyway and b) might need room in their pockets for other things. String. Frogs. Who knows? Cheers!

@@Tim48103 "Novelty" seems to be a bit of a dig against the harmonica, like it is not serious instrument, which is not what the overall review indicates. Do I misunderstand you? And the Oreo metaphor entirely eludes me.

@@soslothful no, not a dig, they're cool harps. Novelty need not imply a negative.... like ice cream "novelties" for example. But I do think the marketing and packaging and so forth does come off as a little frivolous. Which is not to say they aren't quality instruments and aren't fun to play. They are.

@@ДимаКарпезин Kongsheng makes these in one color per key - the one I got is in D, and that one just happens to be pink. The other keys are equally frivolous colors though. I think the advantage of these over the Seydel Big 6 is the 7 hole, which allows you to do some riffs that aren't available on the Big 6.
