We just moved into a home with a custom closet system and it’s really a blessing! It’s so big we don’t even need dressers anymore which frees up more space in the bedroom to add a bookshelf which I’m excited about!

I'm glad you made the comment about decluttering not being synonymous to minimalism! I have put a lot of pressure on myself to become a "minimalist" because I thought that's how I had to be in order to declutter. I'm happy to know that I don't! I love decluttering! I don’t think is something that can be done overnight. I started decluttering in March and I am still in the process. It feels so refreshing to have your space nice and organize! Also, It seems common to confuse being a minimalist with decluttering, but I love how you pointed out that one thing has nothing to do with the other, and is not very niece to judge on how much one decides to keep. Being a minimalist is so personal. Lovely video. 💕

I have things only grouped by tank tops, short sleeve, long sleeve, pj dresses, pj shirts, lularoe, dresses and coats. All pants, leggings, pj bottoms and shorts are in my dresser. We have stuff boxed or nicely stacked on our two shelves above the hanger bar.

Yay declutter! 🤩 I want my husband to declutter some cabinets that’s totally out of control... I’ve decluttered my closet 4 times this year already, I feel really good about that space now. I have 5 or 6 dresses, they are hung colorcoordinated, long and short sleeves are mixed. After that comes my 2 skirts, a blazer, 2 kaftans and 2 blouses. Everything else is folded. I feel like I have a minimalist closet nowadays with only favourites that gets used a lot, I really like it! 😊 We also have some stuff that don’t have a home as I want everything to have around here... need to do something about that. Fantastic job Megan! I’m in the process of doing a closet/ wardrobe reorganization too. Since you asked, I do this 2x a year, with the change of seasons. So now I’m sorting & reviewing the spring/ summer wardrobe and bringing out the fall/ winter clothes. What I keep goes into wicker and canvas open bins that are on the shelves. I also have a bin for scarves and one for belts. I’m donating quite a few items to my local Hospice thrift store. This feels great and like you said , it increases the functionality of the space. I don’t organize by colour but by type of clothing ( blazers, blouses, pants, dresses) Love your videos! Thanks for the extra motivation!

I store extra things in my closet as well bc we don’t have much storage/closet space in our home. I usually hang my clothes by seasons so short sleeves and tshirts together and then winter stuff - long sleeves, sweaters in front depending on the current season. I do tend to color coordinate in each area. Both have to stay in the same closet all year so I just put the out of season back in the corner with dresses as that usually the is longest space I have for them to hang. Loved this video! Like you said, this is real life. Also, don’t let the naysayers bring you down, everyone gets critical or negative comments on their videos even ppl with millions of followers. It just goes with the territory. I know it’s very hard when you read that stuff but remember you’re not ever going to please everyone and the way you made it to 100k is by being true to YOURSELF. We love you for you and not for mimicking someone else! Thanks for sharing. My closet is calling.....again.😘

I am a minimalist myself and got rid of 90% of my belongings because that is what I wanted for myself, but just because someone does not declutter as extreme as I have does not mean they are not minimalistic or decluttering good enough!! I am always decluttering my closet. I do the color coordinating and I go by the length of sleeves as well. Blouses together, skirts, etc.. color and length

I’m a big fan of investing in storage solutions when you know dollar tree or trying to reuse/hack something you already own won’t cut it. As for my closet, it holds very few clothes. Less than half the space is dedicated to clothes just the few items that need to be hung, shoes and workout/hiking clothes that won’t fit in my dresser. I have a full length shelf of blankets, another full shelf of 3 bins 2 sentimental, one important papers and has the hiking clothes. Then I basically have a 4 shelf deep bookcase where I store all my hiking/camping/backing gear. Plus I store some workout gear. It’s not as cluttered as you’d think based on that description because it’s really well organized.

I have long sleeves and short sleeves and they are color coordinated. We also put our jeans and hoodies in the closet. I have our extra set of sheets and at the top I put gifts that I buy ahead of time.

That looks awesome! On the shoe rack, if you alternate shoes (so one with the toe out and the next with the toe in) you can fit even more. I organize my clothes by type (sleeveless, short sleeve, etc.) and then in color blocks, so all the blues, all the greens, all the pinks. It helps me find things if I know I want a certain color and can easily find things for the weather.

What do you do with patterned and multicolor clothes?

Loving Life as Megan I go with the dominant color, so a gray shirt with a small print I would put in the gray while a gray shirt with a large yellow print I may put in yellow. It’s all about the easiest way to find it and where I’ll think to look first. I hope that helps!

Great job! Really love your decluttering and organization videos. I love to organize by type first and then color. I use a hanging organizer in my daughter’s closet that has small see-through compartments for her hair bows and scrunchies so she can see them all. For jewelry, I think it’s best to hang necklaces so they don’t get tangled. I use a tray or box with compartments for the rest, so rings go in one, bracelets in another, etc. Hope this helps!

The shoe racks are the best. I got a bigger version of the ones you are using and I love them. I use to literally just have my shoes on the floor of my closet. I did a de clutter in May, it is One of the best things I have done for myself.

U did great job really, I have normal closet, I usually organize my clothes for the length, the longer close to the wall and the short in the middle.. I don’t hang jeans, I usually put it in drawers, a heavy duty plastic drawer that looks nice in my room. I also change my clothes by season, if it’s winter i take my winter clothes out of the store and put in closet , that’s how at least i save space.. and keep what I wear infront of my eyes.
