Thanks a lot! I am from Tamil Nadu but for the first time I understand this. Similar to the experience of learning to dance salsa from a nonlatino (with my Latina wife who never bothered to learn salsa earlier :) )!

Question: I'm confused why you didn't teach 5 as the phrase "Da di gi na dum"? I realize it's just Ta Ka - Ta ki te ..but... what is more correct to learn primarily as the 5 phrase? Is there significance later on in using one or the other?
@orkunnal50524 жыл бұрын
I understand 5/4 rythm pattern is; Ta Ka Ta Ki Te , right ?
@crono3034 жыл бұрын
Yes, 5 is Taka Takite or Takite Taka.

I'm not quite getting it would that just be a measure of 4/4 playing quintuplets
@tocnik7 жыл бұрын
you do in essence play quintuplets over 4/4, but u do it by accentuating every 5th "subpulse" of the quintuplets (after saying ta ka ti mi in quintuplet pulse), instead of 6th (as u would if u simply phrased ta ki ta ki te on each beat of the 4/4). that way u get to saying ta ka di mi five times on top of four beats - if u accent (pronounce) only TA from the ta ka ti mi phrase u get a straight 5 over 4 polyrhytm
