It's funny to act like Jr is the only one that isn't performing well on commentary. Tazz literally is the only one trying to provide flavor to the match. Tony is useless and Excalibur doesn't shut up about promoting event far in the future. Commentary on AEW is atrocious.

I like Jim Ross being the voice of reason here during commentary. We’re all expected to be as dumb as possible to digest a lot of the shit that goes down in AEW and he’s calling it like he ( WE the audience ) can see it. Maybe if more of their own people kept it this real, things would improve and we’d get a better product.

I agree with Disco wholeheartedly about JR. Mr. Ross can add so much to a match that is truly lost on the AEW 'high spot' talent, their marks and Tony Kahn himself. Heck, JR made NJPW relevant to fans outside Japan for goodness sake. And that's precisely why someone needs to sit the talent down and explain the business in terms any longevity to the young talent. Obviously not "Booker of The Year/ uber mark" Tony. Unfortunately, this is why AEW will remain Numero Dos (until the NWA steps up) as they remain a niche product.

Love JR, as many fans of stated he’s an icon in the business between his early beginnings in Jim Crockett/WCW to his lengthy time in WWF/WWE but the way he’s being used in AEW is not an effective use of JR’s skills (as Disco and the guys have stated). 100% on JR. He may be older now and have suffered physically but his strength is in selling the wrestler to the audience and putting the guy and the fight over in being able to tell the story. It hurts him a lot that he has to try to call these fast shot gun style matches where he has to try to connect logic during illogical fights. Wrestling IMO means more when there are rules - I personally have a hard time getting into it.

Yeah but the rules don't mean nothing when the match starts because wrestlers are constantly breaking these so called rules. Like there suppose to be no elbows for example but u see them constantly especially in AEW. I'm not complaining and trying to be petty but u can look at just about any match and rules are always broken but it depends on the finish. Like them being put through a table in a standard match or someone using steel steps. Now if it's a hard-core no dq match then it makes sense. I'm not saying I wouldn't want to see someone being put through a table but I'm just saying the rules are always broken one way or another in a match.

The announcing situation is indicative of all the problems at AEW. Sockface (Excalibur), the person with the LEAST tv experience, is lead commentator. The guy with virtually no experience is directing guys with decades of experience calling matches at the highest level. Sockface is the one that is directing JR, and setting him up to fail. Like I've said from day one, AEW is a vanity project for the Bucks. Their friends are in all the positions of power, and everyone there has to toe the line, or they get pushed to the side, or the Bucks start feeding shit to Uncle Dave about that person. It doesn't matter is someone is qualified for the position they have in AEW. They just have to be friends with the Bucks. Cornette called it from the beginning, and it's becoming more and more obvious that Cornette was right as time goes on.

The problem is he is a mark, so he got worked by a bunch of guys he idolizes, who all happen to be marks for themselves, and don't give a shit about pro-wrestling as a broader industry or cultures. In the eyes of people like the Elite and Jericho, if they are doing well then wrestling is doing well.... Same reason all the dirt sheet guys keep saying "wrestling has never been hotter" ... because all of them are making more money then they ever have before, not because the product is actually better then its ever been before, or because more people are watching then ever before. it's a whole bunch of marks with egos vs people who genuinely love the sport/art of traditional pro-wrestling.... and the traditionalists are 100% correct, but the people with egos are louder and too arrogant to see through their own BS.

@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL Mr. Ross did his BEST work in Mid South. He was a 10 out of 10. Everywhere else he has gone, he has been good, 9 out of 10, maybe 8 out of 10, but never the 10 he did in Mid South. Was just watching a video where he was talking about when he first got to WWE Vince kind of did not like Jim, and they released him without telling him why. So to say he was a product of WWE values is in error.

Disco nailed it. WWE superstars tell stories and AEW wrestlers do repetitive shots. Only commentar i know that could call spots is Joey Styles. Jim Ross gets the match over if it's well paced minus the silly stuff that takes place.

Was that dude watching the same show? 1:00 JR Busted out with they all must be brothers, then there was a quick wtf moment of silence before Taz or the other guy said "well at least 2 of them are for sure" while laughing. It's time to put the JR toy away. Maybe let him be a real EVP. But I doubt JR wants to deal with these kids on a daily basis. JR also made me clear my throat like 10 times last Collison with that phlegmy commentary.

I literally fast forward EVERY SINGLE MATCH on Dynamite, at least to the 2nd segment… cuz there’s a 99.999% chance each match goes 15-20 mins & has at least one commercial break. Like GODDDDDDAMN… that’s A LOT of nonstop fuckery in the ring. If they would just shorten these matches up and cut out all the false finishes, thigh slaps, high spots, reversals, flips, and superkicks, and Canadian destroyers, and give it some f’n characters and storylines, it MIGHT be watchable. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I'm always hearing JR sound dejected after a "wrestler" performs what used to (& should still) be a devastating, brutal maneuver and he'll be like "that's GOTTA BE it/the finish.... No? *sigh* Close 2 count there... Near fall... Another pile-driver, okay this has got to put him away - oh... Another nearfall" type shit.

THEY ARE BLEEDING BECAUSE THEY CANT WRESTLE. Jericho is beyond his good years so he does it to make up for the fact he cant keep up. Everyone else is doing it because they cant get the crowd to react through skill on the ring or mic.

Disco is right, about the AEW guys need to let JR get them over… when all they’re doing is finishing moves every 7 seconds.. it gets weak, and JR is NOT going to get you over that way- Especially to the casual fans(now) that we’re SUPER fans back in the day.. they’ll say “it’s just not the same”

Why do they call 125 lb liteweights moves “false finishes”? What would be hard impact worthy of a3 count in the previous century from 200 or more lb men is just a trampoline pillow powder puff shot from 85 % of the aew wrestlers.

If JR calls Adam Cole matches, with passion and excitement, that undermines his historical integrity. The stories don't make sense and if the sport was a shoot, the commentators would call out every mistake and try to explain what the athletes are thinking.
