We're back into the travel archive for a look at Kontum in Vietnam's Central Highlands in 2015. How quickly these COVID years are passing... This was a short stop of a couple of days enroute to southern Laos. Kontum ended up being a charming little place.

@@rustycompasstravel yes it’s improving I got my first AZ vaccine today, the govt expects to have everyone over 18 with first dose by end of month. No demonstrations just orderly lines of hundreds of smiling locals. Hope your health is still improving 🤙

I enjoyed your visit to Kontum. The Viet people are some of the friendliest in the world, especially if you treat them as equals. They are far wiser than their years. The older ladies can be a real hoot to talk to. The weather in the central highlands is generally wonderful, and it's my favorite part of Vietnam. I don't know how you got in but I've been locked out of Vietnam for over 18 months. Looking forward to going back. Edit: I see this is from your archives. My family is still is locked down tight in Saigon.

I was in Kontum as a young American soldier. On a hill is Fire Base 5, I took a stunning picture of a young Montagnard girl. I still have it and it is more powerful than that of the famous Afghan girl. Still haunts me to this day.

Not sure Ann. I'm fortunate to not really suffer much interest from bugs.... Except one that got stuck in my ear in Laos years ago.... That's another video....
