I can't recall what the advertisement was for, but this is a parody of a commercial aired in 1984 that was a direct reference to the book 1984, which I believe was written 20 years earlier or so. But Benedict didn't throw a hammer or anything at the screen to break it. He just blew the man's mind by showing him that you CAN go to the toilet AND look cool!
