The band's first gig keeps them out late on school nights but something's fishy on payday.

That sad song as this episode ends simply marvelous. They look so sad and dejected walking back to J.C.

They really should have been in the rock and roll hall of fame a long time ago! Its a shame that they still aren't in there.

You are right. The only proof anyone needs is listen to "Tonight." Even Rock fans loved it. (1984)

Starting out is never easy, you get taken advantage of a lot. These guys were teens but they became polished pros quickly. They didn't know it but they were all prodigies.

Around 1971 I was in a band that played the Kenya Club in Bayonne on weekends for several months. At that time, I idolized Kool and the Gang (and was mystified by Khalis hitting that altissimo A). I had no idea that the Gang had been there before us. I was 15 and also had no business in that club either LOL (the rest of the band were older guys). BTW: You guys really need to do a book.

I remember after we left Jersey City and moved to Pennsylvania I was watching Soul Town. I couldn’t believe when I knew a bunch of kids I knew on the show with a band the KGs. My brother and myself were blown away and telling our friends about it. Good for Kool and the Gang as they came from my section of Jersey City the Lafayette section.
