ayaka has a traditional hime cut, but her hair is just put up and the hime bangs are tied. that is why her blunt cut bangs are shorter than the side bangs, and then the rest of the hair is long. iirc the hime cut was saved for high-ranking ladies in japan from centuries ago, at one point it was a coming-of-age ceremony. it makes sense that ayaka has one because she is one of the most powerful and high-ranking people in inazuma, and the title of shirasagi himegimi is closely aligned to people basically referring to her as a princess of some sorts. it was considered an incredibly important and iconic hairstyle. it’s now still done as a fashion statement. momo from twice has rocked it before.

I just love how Kaeya looks so awesome that he gets a pass for the weird side rat tail. I also think people are too hard on Diluc, I like everyone better in the comics which makes sense because you don't have to animate/create character models, but his low ponytail kind of suits him.
