The Ming dynasty lost its energy not only because this ONE war,there were also TWO huge conflicts（War of 寧夏 and War of 播州） happend in the same period at Ming China. I presume you know this as well since you probably are Chinese as same as me.

at 29:00 takes too long to reload harquebus is also nonsense, japanes could reload it within 10~20 sec. they carried cartridge shells that had preloaded gun powders equiped in their belts. it was just that bullets were not attached to the shells, and their harquebus had burning wicks all the time in which they were acted as firing pins. japanese harquebus were another level at that time.

This was actually first described by the Japanese scholar Hujizka Akinao in his essay 'In Admiration of Admiral Yi Sun-sin', saying togo held a ritual in honour of Yi just before Tsushima.

There are a lot of mis-information about Korea here. His spellings were mostly wrong. Some of information he's giving here about Korea were not correct.

Fujitsuka Akinao's essay is the only description that Togo said such things. But Togo's families, friends or acquaintances never heard that Togo compared Yi with Nelson. So the essay was written based on untrusted source.

Korea is great. While the chinese continent had to change its dynasties 27 times, Korea experienced only 7 dynasty's vissitudes(changes). A korean dynasty's time span is very long one. Koreans, through their history, they have well proved that they are an independent and specific ethnic group. Although in the continent, some ethnic groups are disappeared completely. This should not be a coincidence: I believe, some 'Kings in Continent', especially at the dawn beginning of continental history, could be ancient koreans.

So... Nobunaga founded Tokugawa Shogunate and was a suceesor to Hidehoshi? How nice of him to revive only to establish Tokugawa's shogunate instead of his own so that Tokugawa wouldnt need to bother.

I like this professor, and I've listened to about 20 of his lectures. But this one has made me lose some faith in the guy. Besides what others have said about his problems with Korean names, his error on the Japanese side is egregious. He said that Hideyoshi's successor was "Oda Nobunaga, who founded the Tokugawa shogunate." This is like mistaking the answer for "Who was buried in Grant's tomb?" Now, I don't expect the guy to know everything, but if there are 3 names in Japanese history which you have to know, one of them is IEYASU Tokugawa.

It's a bit annoying to listen to the guy drone on and on about bias and fabrication in history but reading the comments below show that it's necessary. The lack of criticism people have towards their own narrative is frankly disappointing. In my country teacher are specifically told that the goal of teaching history is to strengthen the students' sense of national identity (as opposed to give them an honest account of the important events of the past). Which is fair enough, we all need some lies to make living together a little more bearable. But it doesn't take a genius that our neighbours will share a different set of lies, while people further away look at both versions with smug condescension.

Is not a funny phenomenon? When one ethnic group established on continent, it become 'Chinese kingdom.' Through all history in continent, different ethnic groups became leaders and controllers, even though, it is called 'China'. We must study really in detail what CHINA is. Japan language is ancient korea language. The two languages are almost identical in grammar. The Japanese consist of Goguryeo, Baekje, Shilla, and natives

Whether the language is related or not depends on the ethnically original vocabularies. Koreans and Japanese don't have common vocabularies except the loan words from China and the Japanese words introduced to Korea during the Japanese ruled era. I know that Koreans use the Japanese word Yakusoku meaning promise since Koreans didn't have the exact word for promise so they have to borrow the Japanese words. There are tons of Japanese loan words used in Korean law, academics, medical, educational, economical fields and more. The Korean society won't function without the Japanese words. If you can get rid of the Japanese words, I demand you try.

Sorry, but this was a poor lecture. The prof. includes no background information for the context of the Imjin Wars and WHY Korea was so desperately ill equipped to defend itself from Japanese invaders. Briefly, Japan had newly unified under Hideyoshi after decades of internecine warfare. Continental Asia, in contrast, was in the lull of centuries of peace. When Japan turned its war machine on Korea/China, it came as a shock. No one had expected it.

The stories told in the video are all according to the Korean historians of recent days. In reality, the admiral Lee only stopped the Japanese supply chain for A FEW Hours because Japanese quickly prepared the ships to guard the supply ships. It was the Chinese (Ming) military who actually fought the Japanese Samurais. Chinese and Japanese tried to settle with some truce without Chinese consulting the Koreans since Korea was a vassal state of China. Anyway, when Hideyoshi died the Japanese Samurais retreated. Most of Samurais were not really interested in Korea as it was bitterly cold in winter and full of mountains so there were no really land to farm in that era. And according to the Korean historical record, the Korean palaces got burned down by the KOREAN slaves before the Japanese Samurais arrived so that the Korean slaves can delete the records of them being slaves in order to set themselves free from the slave state. However the Koreans teach kids and foreigners that the palaces got burned down by the Japanese, which is totally lie. And the artisans taken from Korea were ONLY PORCELAINS ARTISANS. They started producing the porcelains with colorful pictures AFTER they came to Japan being encouraged to create stuffs. And when the Japanese authorities allowed them to go back home to Korea after years later, those Korean porcelain artisans REFUSED to go back to Korea saying they get treated better in Japan (their own words). In Korean the physical workers were all looked down by the Yang-bang aristocrats. Anyway, telling that the Japanese culture was from Korea is very misleading as the Japanese porcelains were developed AFTER the porcelains artisans came to Japan. Korean porcelains were all bluish during those eras. BTW, European porcelains are from China and Japan, but that doesn't mean the European culture is from China and Japan.

1. Yi Sun Shin did stopped Japanese supply ships and crushed the Japanese navy very badly in numerous battles at Sacheon, Hansan Island, Myeongnyang and Noryang. 2. Joseon army was in disrray and the irregular armies did fought against Japanese and won some land battles, Ming tried to settle secret peace with Japan without Joseon consent after failed battle of Byeokjegwan near Kaseong. 3. Even during the start of the Imjin Wars, the Ming royal court was paranoid and thought that the Joseon was lying about Japanese invasion.They refused to send troops initially because they thought that Joseon was conspiring with Toyotomi Hideyoshi to invade the Ming and then partition the territories amongst themselves. This changed by 1593 after a few disastrous defeats by the Ming at the hands of the Japanese. Basically until the Imjin Waeran the Ming were afraid that Joseon would conspire with either the Japanese, Jurchens and Mongols to invade them. 4. Yes, Japan stole a lot of Korean potters. No credible historian denies that.

In order to rationalize Japan's distorted history (= 'Japan controled Korea in the past so it's nothing new about Japan's annexation' ) Japanese scholars even changed historical records written on memorial stone called 廣開土大王陵碑. On this stone was written how Goguryeo successfully overpowered Silla, Gaya, Baekjae. But Japanse scholars chaned letters on stone and changed the content to 'Japan successfully overpowered Sila, Gaya, Baek jae. This makes me doubt credibilty of Japanese records.

We did not have any diplomatic relationship with Chinese as well as Koreans till 19th century because of their culture, eunuch and foot-binding. We maintained sex equality since unknown days. First Portuguese brought guns in 1543 and Christianity. However we hated Pope Christianity because of its anti-sex indulgence.Japan became the largest matchlock gun producer in the world in the end of 16th century. Shogun prohibited it in fear of rebellions. Eventually Netherlands had no interests in propaganda of a religion. The British lost interests in Japan because they were busy in India. We restricted the foreign trade only with the Dutch constructing the specific port called Dejima in Nagasaki. It is questionable why we hated Pope Christianity. It is said that a wife called Madam Grace, a Christian committed suicide when her husband's enemy stormed her house during his his absence. Grace's husband was Hosokawa clan, part of which were the former prime minister's. In short she was going too far to protect her virginity.Anyway we loved European matters.

Japanese admiral Togo never said Yi Sun-sin was a greatest naval mind in history nor compared him with Horatio Nelson. That was a lie spread by Koreans.
