I worked at a restaurant and when all credit cards went to having the chip reader instead of the swipe strip it took like 5 sec longer to complete the transaction...people were so freaked out. They be like, "What's wrong? Is something wrong with my card? Why is it taking so long?" So, I started filling in the 5 sec time gap with funny antidotes and quips to distract them and to keep them from going into a panic, anxiety attack! 😆 lol

It was an informative show in many ways. I had seen that rushing push in many big cities before, but usually not to this degree. I was surprised to see two lanes on escalators in Europe, where there is a fast/passing lane. And it definitely is a reverse culture shock when you travel to rural areas, even from average-busy cities, and everything is Soooo Slooow that it can be an awkward adjustment. I was surprised in several big European cities to see the tightly run transit system, where you could count on the next train being very soon, and on time. The trick was quickly making sure that you were on the right line, and determining where the transfer lines were to get to your destination. Which is even more of a challenge in a country with a different language. The buttons in restaurants sound like a great idea for quick meals. I was a waiter for years, and many diners who were tired from a frenzied day, often want a casual, comfortable, personable dining experience. Even though you still need to get drinks out quickly, and food delivered hot.

I wish we had bells on tables here in America. It seems like a much better system than trying to flag down someone during a busy time.
