Commercial pilot here. Some planes have an “auto” setting for the seatbelt sign and it sounds like the flight crew left it in that position. After a certain amount of “turbulence” the automation flips on the sign. I don’t think we ever used it.

Interesting, I never knew that.

@@JoshCahill I know nothing about the 330, but our CRJs auto would pop the light on if the flaps were out of 0 position, gear handle down, or below 10,000 feet. I surmise if that if this was the case on a much more sophisticated aircraft it would include accelerometers of some sort, but I’d have to see the systems description. Airbus tends to have a lot more automation and sophistication. Then again it could just be the company’s SOPs to flip on that light at the slightest hint and I could be flat wrong.

I would guess the curtain thing is so the cabin crew can keep an eye on the passengers. Their primary role is to ensure the safety of the passengers, serving refreshments etc. is a secondary function.

After watching this video, I also tried upgrading at the check-in counter on T-way about 2 weeks back from Singapore to Seoul. Each person was SGD300. They provided water, sleeping eye mask, foam ear plugs, slippers and blanket besides the meal (that’s on demand). Enjoyed the rest and woke up fresher upon arrival.

I suppose dine-on-demand is quite common in economy class among Asian LCCs for those who have pre-purchased. I once flew Denpasar to Tokyo with Air Asia (economy) and before take-off the crew asked if I wanted the meal after take-off or before landing.

One thing I do like about T'Way's A330-300, the economy class is still in a 2-4-2 configuration, which is really comfortable than traditional 3-3-3 in other budget airlines' A330.

Very nice to see THIS. However, Qatar Airways do offer slippers in business class. They're in the bag with the complimentary pajamas - and they're handed out on all flights longer than four hours basically. I just know so we'll see they were part of my Qatar giveaways a couple times already, every time I do a report on them. But again, as always, a really worthwhile airline report of yours. And so interesting to hear about dine on demand in Economy Class! Impressive. Hierher also really tough for the staff, thinking of a full coach cabin on an A330! (going BKK-ICN myself in a few months, and somehow I wanna see this airline now myself - seems like a nice experience, and a bit outside the box. Thank you!)

Josh, your English is NOT "crap". Most people who's second language is English always think their English is terrible when it's not. I'm from the U.S and I find that most Europeans who come from non-English speaking countries actually speak English better than the U.S because they're using proper, old fashioned dialects instead of "y'all", "ain't", "gonna", etc etc etc. This goes to show that even North Americans don't know proper English. Your English is perfect and professional!!!!
@anapaulatillman.6133

Good point. I'm reminded of this when I hear Africans speaking English, using Victorian-era argot like "perchance" and "felicitously." These words put blank stares on the faces of most Westerners, but it's nice to hear. A reminder of when English was a little more refined and variegated. Funny how sometimes language gets twisted, and sometimes preserved like a fly in amber.

The crew not displaying "personality" is sometimes considered a good thing in Eastern Asia. They are not supposed to small talk or anything like that. On a flight catering to international passengers, this is of course done differently. Also, there is a feeling of shame if people cannot speak English in this region, as they do not want to offend you or lose face or are inexperienced in dealing with non-Asian folks. This is of course a really general statement and subject to exceptions. Yet it makes sense to keep this in mind when travelling the region.

The reason why there are many Thais traveling to Korea is. First, Korea is no visa needed for the Thai passport since it seems to be a vary first destination(in East Asia) open for Thai traveler post covid. Secondly, Many Thai labours work in Korea. The last one is young Thais love Kpop things. There are many Kpop concerts happening there days. lol I think that's why many BKK-ICN flights.

BRILLIANT, why doesn't that concept exist on other airlines, Fantastic idea, the opening of the curtains when seat belt sign is on is unusual, maybe it's for safety reasons like you said, for crew to keep an eye on passengers, you mentioned airport that gets people excited when we touch down? Melbourne Airport, Sydney Airport Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️ basically any international airport in Australia, love it. Love Australia, My favourite country despite the VISA, still love it.
