This decipher report is misleading the point. The privacy invaded by Molka(Hidden Camera) has never anything to do with Tech advancement, which is simply matter of individual criminal behavior. CCTV is not Molka, and never used by any criminal individual, but used for public purpose. On top of this, according to 2020 survey report conducted by an English Tech media, Korea is not on the top list of global cities that install CCTV the most in terms of no. of CCTV installed per population. Seoul is placed at 53rd with 4.1 CCTV per 1000 people, Busan at 105th. London is at 3rd with 67.4 cctv/1000 people. It can be assumed Great Britain is armed with 15 times more surveilling system than Korea. Remember, Seoul is only at 53rd position out of whole global cities in CCTV installation. That said, It's funny English society criticizing Korea for privacy issues.

In fact most of the video was painted South Korea in a positive light. Maybe it's a language barrier thing?

As a Korean, I would like to say this. There are circumstances and details inside South Korea that you must know about dealing with infectious diseases. Many foreign media do not cover this detail. When MERS infectious diseases were prevalent in South Korea in 2015, we did not track them using IT technology. For privacy, neither the infected person's visit nor the hospital he was hospitalized were disclosed. At that time, the Korean government initially failed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and was criticized by many people. At that time, the Korean government refused to disclose most of the information for privacy reasons. However, as the infection spread, people did not trust the government and became increasingly suspicious. And a list of hospitals and shops where the infected person was hospitalized was spread by unknown rumors, and many hospitals and shops were damaged by rumors that were different from the facts. The demand of the people for information disclosure has increased. The South Korean Medical Association also publicly held a press conference, pressuring the government to disclose a list of hospitals where infected people were hospitalized. At that time, the South Korean government faced tremendous criticism, and the South Korean National Assembly passed a bill permitting the use of IT technology to cope with infectious diseases. If MERS had not caused great damage to South Korea, there would have been no related legislation, and there would have been no tracking of infected people using IT technology. Let's talk about the early days of the coronavirus crisis, before the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide except China reached 10,000. At that time, a one person who was infected with the coronavirus released his name and face, recommending that people who had contact with him be tested for the coronavirus if they were watching through the media.(I remember it as British.) At that time, there was a widespread perception in South Korea that the person's behavior was very courageous and excellent enough for others to want to follow. His behavior of prioritizing the health of others over his privacy impressed South Koreans. In the early days of the coronavirus crisis, there were several super spreaders in South Korea. At that time, movement tracking using IT technology was not performed. Only basic epidemiological investigations were conducted at the level of asking questions to the infected person himself. Everyone will remember. In the early days of the coronavirus, South Korea was the second most infected place right after China. The actions of several super spreaders caused social anger. They were sick and visited the hospital and were hospitalized. The doctor suspected of being infected with the coronavirus and recommended several times to be tested for it. However, they refused to be tested for the coronavirus, sneaked out of the hospital, attended weddings, ate at hotel restaurants, and attended large religious gatherings attended by thousands of people. Many people were angry because of these people who refused to test for the coronavirus and spread the coronavirus to more than hundreds of people. In particular, Protestant-based pseudo-religious believers, who had the largest number of infections in the early days, often refused to test for the coronavirus. According to their doctrine, it was believed that if they believed in the leader, they could live a long and healthy life. If you are found to be infected with the virus, it is against the doctrine. The MERS outbreak in 2015. A bill by the National Assembly that allowed the use of IT technology to prevent infectious diseases. Disclosure of infectious disease-related information required by the majority of people. Great behavior of a British person who is concerned about the health of others rather than his or her own private life and reveals his or her face and name to the media. Anger at people who refused to test for coronavirus and spread the virus to hundreds or thousands of people. All of these had a comprehensive impact, so it was possible to track infected people using IT technology in South Korea.

Yeah I got the same impression. Yes Korea is a world leader in tech (or at least has better marketing than the west), but the memories of the dictatorship before the mid 90s are still pretty fresh. I think they have struck the right balance between a high tech future and a democratic society that respect human rights. But demographic challenges and labour shortage in low paying service sector are huge reason for all the robots in that area, its just easier to buy a robot. Other than that, we have much the same apps as in the west, delivery, health, you name it. Culture is a big reason too, we already developed, so although we want to be productive, we also want to enjoy our lives, and if someone enjoys their job and it doesnt hurt the company, why replace them? Having said that there is a burnout issue in Canada and the US, because of bad vacation policies, people dont get the time off needed to recharge, and often end up not increasing in productivity, and dont have an incentive too either(they get insufficient time to destress/live their dreams, and financially insecure retirement?). Apparently its not an issue in the EU with 4 to 5 weeks of paid vacation right off the bat...which incetivizes employees to keep on top of their work, and gives them the chance to live their dreams out. On the other hand, we only get to be young and adventerous once, so what the harm in letting the young travel more (they wont day dream at work if they know they can do their whole bucket list and stay employed), and the ones who have settled down earlier( having got their impluses out) the time needed to see relatives and make family time? Happy employees, mean happy families, and healthier as well as more loyal/productive people in general. The economists claim labour productivity is stagnating due to lack of investment in human capital...its more due to lack of investment in employee well being.

@@balafama2120 lmfao why you so angry? It's almost as if you have something against Korea. btw this was a four part documentary titled Deciphering South Korea so one would expect the focus to be on better understanding the South Korean society and not digging up the dirt on South Korea. btw what country are you from?
@jwo1223 жыл бұрын
@@balafama2120 btw what's your source that "camera perversion" is big in Korea. And when you say "camera perversion" do you mean hidden cams or does it include cctv as well? Some statistical evidence would be preferable.
@ashleyclairekim91553 жыл бұрын
When you say you decipher a “country”, you have to do know about the culture and various sides for the good too. These four videos are too focused on Seoul - capital city under Covid situation. Obviously it should be untact. South Korea is a beautiful country with mountains and historical legacy. People are friendly and have warm welcoming attitude. Kind of straightforward. Still a lot to going on for the better future though. The videos are taken beautifully but the facts are a bit biased and twisted. Camera issue is quite exaggerated. Btw, where is your deciphering about lots of positive sides of South Korea?

It covered problems (illegal spycams), but mainly positives: Unique methods of Contact tracing that no one else had done, Agriculture funds to help promote farming, Success of Samsung despite being a relatively young developed country, KZbinr academies. Teaching Kids about AI from an early age Like all of these are commendable things Like did we even watch the same video???? It's so positive towards South Korea as a nation. Maybe it's a language barrier thing and you guys didn't understand most of it? Like if anything one could point at this and be like yea it was too positive and biased. What the world does not realize is that the Koreans do not like low wages, they hate low-paying manual labor jobs. That is the reason why everyone is studying their asses off and the result is heavy competition in high-tech arenas in every industry. This is what caused Korea to develop so differently not because they are trying to create some kind of no contact society. Heavy competition for a higher-paying job created what seems like less contact high tech society it was not intended. Just happens to be part of an industry that only higher-paying jobs more difficult task led them to this side of nature because they cannot do anything else with it. It's what happens when people rather study than work low-paying manual labor-related jobs. They all want to sit in a comfortable environment for their living is what led to this society. It was never intended to be this way. This is just a natural phenomenon when people just wanna work indoor white-collar jobs.
