What do women eat after they have babies? How do they take care of their bodies?
Here are some differences of postnatal care between Korea and the West!
Oh! Apparently in the really olden days, a doctor saw whales who just had babies heal itself by eating a lot of seaweed so people think this is where this culture originated from! More details to come soon!
Enjoy!

In Nepal, every new moms are given rice that is cooked with ghee and tender meat soup cooked with spices like ginger, fenugreek, ajwin seed and cooked in pressure cooker. They are suppose to eat 3 times a daily and no spicy food and lots of massages to both mother and baby.

I’m giving birth in July so it’s going to be HOT. The concept of avoiding everything cold entirely is understandable based on the culture and history but in America it’s just about being comfortable and a nice fan or ac running or cool/cold glass of water can help regulate your body temperature because being too hot is just as bad as being too cold as mom and baby can get a heatstroke(for babies heatstroke can be fatal too).

I am sorry, I can’t help but cry when you said postpartum care is to make moms comfortable after birth. Because from what I heard, I imagine postpartum Chinese edition seems to be an extension of what we have to endure (suffer). No washing hair, eating chinese wine chicken soup - even when you’re allergic and passing alcohol to the baby 😭😭😭

In Indian postnatal care culture we have to rest for 40 days and drink carom seed and jaggery water for first two days and yes the same we will follow avoid hot things and cover up yourself. Massage for mother and baby regularly for 40 days and you have to eat light food to avoid coilc pain in babies as if you are exclusively breastfeeding. Drink milk more coz the old ladies says milk produces more milk😅. Im always curious about others postnatal care culture.

In our culture, Hmong, we are required to eat boil lean chickens with Hmong herbs for 30 days, with fresh new rice and hot water, 3x a day, for 30 days. We are required to cover our heads and feet. 💖
