Yay, KK video. Malaysian cuisine is very unique, because its not just Malay, Chinese or Indian, its fusion of all three. If I remembered correctly thats how Gordon Ramsay described it when he visited Malaysia in one of his Great Escapes in Asia.

So you girls went to Damai! Haha it's a foodie place for the locals. There are two types of fried noodles in KK. One is the wet fried noodles with thick broth sauce (the one you girls had), the other one is a dry fried noodle (no sauce). The wet noodle you had is called ho fun (a type of flat noodle). Usually it's fried with high wok heat first thus giving you the fragrance burnt taste then the sauce is poured over on top. Tuaran mee (consists of BBQ pork, egg rolls, egg, vege) can only be found in Sabah originated from a small town of Tuaran. Thanks for trying it out! And yes for non-Muslims we eat all the innards (liver, tongue, stomach etc etc). Sang Nyuk Mee and bak kut teh have it all. Glad you girls enjoyed the food and being so open with the vast Malaysian culture. I'm sure you all also tried the famous kaya toast at Fook Yuen since you were there haha.

I love your videos . Thanks for making them.

im soo glad that your were interested on sabahan cuisine and enjoy on ur vacation, seem like jade interested make on char kway teow @ mee goreng basah.. 1st ur can used 2 type noodle, 1- thin rice noodle, 2- egg noodles.. fried the noodle using a bit oil and lite soy sauce until it got char. then make a broth, put shrimp, squid, fishcake and pork, vege, salt and pepper until it get a deep ocean&pork flavour.. then put corn starch to make it thick then pour on the noodles.. goodluck
@shapley47436 жыл бұрын
Lol...Usually would dip the meat in chilli than pouring it straight on the noodles. Sang Nyuk mee is the best pork noodle. The meat is thin & soft and doesn’t give any porky smell. Can ask for kan lau (dry with black sauce) version besides soup.

What u guys eat is wat tan hor not char kuey tiow. Both of them have taste different but still delicious so u should try both. The brown sauce is dark soy sauce mix with soy sauce. Normally Chinese char kuey tiow is dry and Malay char kuey tiow is soup based but there's also a dry version so u guys should try. Malaysian do enjoy eating intestines, we eat it with bak kut teh and bitter gourd soup but mostly is pork intestines. Some mamak also offers intestines soup with different taste and there's also intestines choices at mixed rice shops/stalls.

I don't think that the second one is Char Kway Teow. It's looks like "Mee Basah" it's mean "Wet Noodle". Anyway you guys should visit Sarawak too. They have a lot of delicious food there. Most famous is "Mee Kolok".
@blackiewhaitt74476 жыл бұрын
The one that you wrote *char kuew teow is not really char kuew teow. Its more to kuew teow ladna. Kuew teow is the flat noodle type. So, how to make that brownish soup for the noodle is simply put a little of corn flour or wheat flour in it the water. Just a little. First, fry some garlics add some water, wait till it boil Add the corn flour, some salt, white pepper , adding meat or chicken, veggies and sometime adding some vinegar for a sour taste. The noodle and the soup must be cooked seperately. Fry the noodle with salted soy souce in oil with high heat so it will burn a bit.That is why it tasted like what you described. Tips: used the same oil that you fried the noodle to cook the soup I enjoyed eating this noodle with salted pickle s chillies. *Char kuew teow is a quick style fried kuew teow with seafood like shrimp, shells, egg, bean sprouts, chives. Some prefer dry version but I prefer the 'banjir' version. Means lots of gravy or 'watery' thr colour is darker and it tastes salty and sweet
@shapley47436 жыл бұрын
Don’t miss out Sabah’s pork dumpling Guo Tie. It comes with ginger with white seaweed and also vinegar with garlic.

that char kuey teow is gravy base. the gravy either white or brown sometime red. it's brown cause from thick soy sauce and red is tomato sauce. the grill noodle taste come from the wok where the noodle being tossed with pressure stove.

Aimi Abdullah In Sabah, it is called as “Kuetiaw Goreng Basah”. Tried “Kuetiau Goreng Kungfu” when I was in Penang few years ago, the noodle itself is fried with egg making the noodle clumpy while the Sabah version the egg is cooked with the thick sauce.

Miss Edward oh really? Ah, I made a mistake. Yes, the one you tried in Penang is KueyTeaw Kungfu. Blimey sisters, sorry I made a mistake! 🙏🏻 The second noodle is KueyTeaw Ladna (this is what it is called in Peninsular Malaysia).
