The first game comes from a real game called Statues. I don't know whether it is/was played in other countries, but I played it as a child in Australia in the 1970s. Of course, we didn't kill people. The person who is up, in front turns around periodically and decides who is "out". The first player to touch the 'up' person is the new up person. It was a popular game. :-))

For the rest of the world it has always been called "Red Light, Green Light". Here in the US (I was born in 88) we would play it as seen, with someone as the leader saying "Red light, green light, one, two, three!" and on the count of three they would turn around and anyone who was caught moving was OUT. We also did a game similar, called Simon Says, but it was movement or if you did something different to what "Simon" said, OR if you did what they said but they didn't say "Simon says..." then you were also out. We also did Red Rover. I miss being a kid lol.

@@killinglonliness88 I looked it up on Wikipedia and it looks like it was ONLY called "Red Light, Green Light" in North America. It apparently has many, many names around the world. North America is a large country but it's only one country, and certainly not the rest of the world, lol. There's a lot of European countries and South American countries, and those countries also have their own names for games, just like Australia and the US does. Canada also has it's own name apparently - "Go, go, stop" "Red Rover" - We called that game "Red Rover" too, but in other parts of Australia it was generally called "Bullrush!" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statues_(game)

As you can see from the subtitles in the show, that’s what they call it in Korea too. I also have friends from all around the world, in Canada, Europe, and some in Mexico who all told me they called it red light green light as well. So it’s a regional thing. I was just saying that people all over the world have called it that. No need to argue about it, not like I was attacking you ffs.

There are lots of names for this game. Just because it has a particular name in the US, that doesn't automatically mean that everyone else uses that name. And South Korea does not call it Red Light, Green Light as a matter of course, although they might have heard of that name from the internet. They have their own name in their OWN language. Some might know that the US calls it that because they learn the US version of English. I actually taught this game to South Korean students, and they didn't know the name Red Light, Green Light, although they did mention their own name.
