Kalbi Korean Short Ribs
This is our recipe for Kalbi Short Ribs.
Korean Short Ribs, or Flanken are cut lengthwise across the bone, unlike American style Short Ribs which include a thick slab of meat on top of the bone.
Kalbi, or Galbi is the name of a Korean dish using the Short Rib with a sweet and spicy marinade.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 lb- Korean sort ribs
1 ea- Asian pear, peeled, cored, quartered and chopped (The pear is used as the enzymes help tenderize the meat.
1/2 cup- soy sauce
1/3 cup- brown sugar
1/3 cup- rice vinegar
2 ea- garlic colves
1 ea- small white onion, peeled and quartered
1 TBSP- sesame oil
1 tsp- chili garlic sauce
1 tsp- ginger paste
Sesame Seeds
Method:
Blend all of the ingredients in a food processor until smooth.
Place the Short Ribs into a gallon storage bag and cover with the marinade.
Refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours.
Remove the ribs from the bag and sprinkle sesame seeds.
Grill over medium heat until charred and caramelized.
Recipe for our sweet and spicy cucumber salad:
1 ea- English cucumber, sliced
1/4 cup- sliced scallions
1 tsp- red pepper flakes
1 tsp- fresh or dried mint
1/4 cup- apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp- sugar
pinch- salt

Holy moly. Nice job on that cook! Some folks might look at your ribs and think, "Yuck, the edges are burnt" but they don't know what they are missing. Those charred fatty edges are FANTASTIC. Great job!

Hey Robert. I have been grilling just about everything these days. Love grilling vegetables, asparagus with lemon and olive oil and broccolini are some of my favs. I smoked some potatoes recently. I agree with you, I love the smell of the neighborhood when someone is grilling, most of those smells come from my house. 😂. Thanks for checking in, weather is lovely here.

@@FoodLust Grilling mostly vegetables myself. I enjoy grilling for two households and splitting the food. Pulling some grilled chicken from the freezer this morning. Shredded it into a homemade frozen sauce. Boiled zit noodles to assemble and bake on the grill tonight. Bread is my next grilling adventure. Glad the weather is good for grilling. The news is reporting 90’s coming your way.
