Korean Male Beauty Standards 101(feat.Savage Mom)

Savage Korean mom is back with male beauty standard rant!!!
I asked my mom who lived in Korea for 51 years to teach me Korean male beauty standards and to also judge some celebrities based on the standards. She will judge K-pop stars like BTS and actors like Lee Jung Jae, and also foreign celebrities like Keanu Reeves, Timothee Chalamet and more(the male celebrities I showed were picked by my subscribers on an instagram poll)!
This video is made to leave record of Korean male beauty standards in 2021 (because it will change) and hopefully you guys understand that the beauty standards in Korea are impossible to achieve to the point that it is funny. Plz don't feel bad if you don't fit the standards, neither does my mom's bf and ex-husband and it's fine :D

The pictures weren't the best tho. Very photoshopped and airbrushed, you can't really see their features as accurately compared to the other pictures Kelsey brought. Otherwise I'm sure she would've been much harsher on everyone except for V. But it's true that everyone except for the visuals wouldn't be considered handsome by Korean beauty standards. (Don't get me wrong, I think it's refreshing that most of them look so natural:))

Most of them were pictures of them at events, with no or little editing, while the BTS ones were promotional ones with lots of editing that conceal features that don't fit into Korean beauty standards.

It's not they were photoshopped into distorting their facial features, like they didn't just give everyone double eyelids for example. It just gave their skins a lot of polish. Also Jin has been famous as a visual before Tae and was known to pass all the tests that knetz gives out. Without makeup, getty pictures, etc etc. I seriously doubt her assessment will change even in candids.

Herbivore male is a term started in Japan. It basically means a soft man that seems harmless and non-threatening so kinda like a pretty boy/soft boy as opposed to a carnivorous male (more traditional male), which actively pursues women like a carnivore would go after prey.

I'm super impressed on how quick and natural she is when defining ratios, and being so specific with face shapes and all. I love the fact that, although her way of thinking is judgemental and based on very strict characteristics, she is really rational and straightforward with the subject. By the end of the video, I was considering her to be an expert on how our brain perceives symmetry and harmony in shapes. Beauty is a very personal and sensitive subject, but this video gave me a whole new point of view on how beauty is defined.

Actually when a mother says that her daughter isn't that pretty it's like she admitted that she is not pretty too. Anyway. Mothers must support their daughters. Even if sometimes it's a lie. Because the society it's cruel and people always want to bring you down, so it's important your mom to support you n lift up your confidence. My mom never wanted to tell me that I'm pretty because she didn't want me to be arrogant. When I got older I realized that I'm pretty. But I never enjoyed my good-looking appearance because I was always too low confident and humble. I wish I was more confident when I was younger! Even my choices in life would be different! A person who doesn't believe in itself doesn't make the right choices because thinks that does not deserve much

I don't think her mom should lie to her if she doesn't think she is not pretty just as long as she does it in a way that is not hurting her daughter's confidence, teaching her that is not a big deal and shouldn't bother her. Her mom doesn't even give herself perfect scores in terms of beauty. In the other video she said she would rate herself 8/10 with makeup on. That's very honest and I appreciate that. Plus her daughter is a combination of her and her ex husband's genes not hers alone. Kelsey is very beautiful and she knows it so her moms words do not hurt her. Self love is key to a high self esteem and her mom helped in making her tougher. I don't agree in too much cuddling thats why kids nowadays have no backbone and everything scars them
